II would like to hear from any Ovarian Cancer survivors who has a similar scenerio as mine or any encouraging words for me. I am 43 yrs old. I was originally diagnosed in 2003 with Stage IIC, surgery, chemo.
Recurrence in 2007: CT Scan showed enlarged lymph node in abdomen/pelvic area. Biopsy came back positive. More chemo.
My CA-125 has been in an "upward trend". It was 25 last check. CT Scan last week shows another enlarged lymph node in same area. Biopsy will be scheduled soon.
I work full time in a high stress job. I am seriously considering going on disability. I don't have a clue what to do. I know it is up to me and the doctor's...but I am afraid to come to a decision. I am afraid and confused.

I am battling stage IV OV CA, diagnosed a little over a year ago and am on my third course of chemo. I can tell you that stress and cancer don't mix. Had a recurrence just 4 months after finishing the first course of chemo, and believe the stress of work was a major contributing factor. If you can get disability, go for it. I lost my job due to too much absenteeism and it was a blessing in disguise.

I to am a ovarian cancer survivor, in remission
in March of 08. Only to find out after commming home un January 09, that my CAT125 is on the
rise, since Nov.o8. Starting with chemo again with
a different cocktail, going for my 3rd treatment
tomorrow. Going to get the newest treatment,
of avistan. I am anxious to see if it works without
any complications. It is suppose to cut off the blood
to the cancer tumor itself and not affect any thing
else in the body.
I to am a believer that stress is the worst thing
for cancer, if you can retire and get disability, go for
it gal. Life is to short not to do all you can to keep
yourself going, for you and your family.
Please put me on your friend list if you would like.
Sincerely
Betty

Thank you, Hawkeye. I met with Oncologist yesterday. They are recommending 6 more rounds of chemo, same carbo/taxol mix. I am working on second opinion from MD Anderson and possibly another. The Oncologist is helping me. She is open to any suggestions. They also mentioned possible Radiation therapy. This lymph node is in same area as previous one. I will add you to my friends list if I can remember how to do it. Thanks!

I am 44 years old with a 2, 19 and 20 year old. I was diganosed May 2001 with IIIC and recurrance in May 2008 had taxol/carbo first time and in 2008 started with taxol/carbo/avastin and became allergic to taxol so had 8 rounds of avastin and carbo. I am totally exhausted and asked my oncolgoist about disabilty last visit and he said not til it comes back again. For my work disablity they said I had to have 2 doctors that would sign off I couldn't work any job.

I had stage III fallopian tube cancer(treated the same as ovarian) in Nov. 2006. Had surgery, then 3 months chemo, a clean-up surgery of abdominal area and 3 months chemo. Then the interperitoneal chemo ,but too painful and had to stop. Cancer free then until July 2008. Had spot on liver and had a radio frequency tumor ablation. That worked until Jan. 2009 and another reoccurence. I have now had 3 months of gemzar. I was doing more carbo until I had a reaction and had to stop. That is when they started the gemzar. Pet scan this week showed I was cancer free. Now we are taking vacation until it comes back. This is a management type of cancer I have found. Test with CT and PET scans every 6 months and then be ready for chemo. The CA 125 blood tests give me an indication. My normal seems to be around 8.8. Everybody is different. Good luck and keep up your tests. VI

Hi,

I was diagnosis with stage 111C Ovarian cancer April 2006, had surgery, treatment, cancer free until september 2007 then a small mass lower right abdomen pelvic area. I never had a biopsy the dr didn't want to.
Did 6 rounds of taxol & carboplatin, didn't work. started avastin jan 2009 ct showed mass got bigger and I had 1 spot on my liver. after 3 rounds of avastin ct showed tumor in pelvic area getting smaller but I now have four spots on my liver. No problems with avastin except my blood pressure has gone up alot.

mz, Thank you for your entry. I am back on Carbol/Taxol. Had my first treatment Tuesday. Just started feeling better late yesterday.
We went to MD Anderson a couple of weeks ago for their opinion. They agreed with the treatment my Oncologist recommended so came home for treatments. They are talking about using pinpoint radiation on the lymph nodes. Anyone have any comment on this procedure?
