MAGRIT study or what after left lung pneumonotomy of NSCLC tumor, stage IIIA

0 Recommendations

My mum, aged 57, an absolute non-smoker!!! has just had her left lung pneumonotomy yesterday morning after being diagnosed with epidermoid carcinoma (NSCLC tumour size 8cm) two weeks ago, as written in her records stage IIIA...I am new here and have just learnt about MAGRIT study from this website, can anyone give me any advice on it? We are just in the beginning of our battle over CA 34.0, I would be thankful for any help and any advice on how to deal with this situation, what is awaiting us, what should we do that you would do differently after having dealt with similar diagnosis...actually all information is welcome and highly appreciated...what is the life like with just one lung? what should we avoid doing?...we know very little and feel confused with all these varied news and we try to cope and live with this diagnosis by gathering any valuable information, though still waiting for the biopsy...we were cancer free family so far and we are helpless, broken and unaware...Thank you and God bless all your replies.

My uncle is going on 13 years with 1 lung so you guys stay strong, have faith, and research and ask lots of questions.
As for the study, check your nearest cancer center to see if they are having the study and ask how to get involved. I too am asking at Roswell next week.

cmcqb, thank you for your support, it´s great to hear people with one lung enjoying their lives to the fullest especially when they were dx with LC before the surgery...we have searched for more information on this study and found a centre that is involved in this study...biopsy proved the preoperation results, we are staged IIIA, the last stage eligible for this study...however, we can start with this only after my mum receives her chemo rounds...immunotherapy can´t replace the oxidative chemo therapies...I´m interested in everyone who is participating in this study already or any other studies which are held this year 2009, their names, links, useful information, any comments...
