My mom for about a year or more was at the drs often. She was told she was borderline diabetic, put on vioxx for bone pain, did have a chest x-ray which showed a spot. When she went to a lung "specialist" had to retake the x-ray as the original was lost! New one showed no spot? Within a few months she was brought to the ER as she couldn't even walk the back pain was so bad. Orthopaedic drs. had examined her and said she had a slight crack in her spine and they were going to do this cement procedure. It turned out they couldn't has she had a tumor there. They said it was bone cancer and that they needed to find out if this was the primary cancer. It was not. She had advanced lung cancer with mets to the bone. Obviousely all this had been there for quite some time! I asked questions and received no answers. This all happened in Aug of 2000 and she was gone within 8 weeks. Her lawyer suggested that I contact a med malpractice atty and gave me a name. I called for a consult , and he explained that while he thought I had a good case, he could not represent me as it would be a conflict of interest-he was already representing the 2 drs that I was questioning in a similar case! I had just wanted them to take responsibility for their mistakes. I did not go any further as I just was too upset having just lost my mom. I figured what goes around comes around! My own experience with ovca was totally different. But I had learned alot from what happened to my mom to be careful every step of the way. I like you, cannot understand something like this being overlooked-it just doesn't make sense.

hope this is not the ending for us. i don't known how they could have missed this he's been seeing a dr. and a gi guy for 6 months i'm just sick. annee

I am so sorry for you. Just try to educate yourself on everything including options. Stay on top of things. Get a new dr if you have to-find one that you are completely satisfied with. You might try one of the cancer centers and see if they could refer you to a proper dr in your area. Just don't give up and fight like hell! Keep me posted. Karen
