I believe I have been misdiagnosed

0 Recommendations

A lump in my right breast has returned and it is now twice as large as it was a year and a half ago.

I had a biopsy done a year and a half ago and was just told that the reading came back inconclusive so they just wrote it off as not cancer. I was also told that if this lump is cancer, it is growing slow so I shouldn't worry about it.

Is it me or does this sound extremely odd?

I don't know what to do now...............

Go get a second opinion. Even if your insurance don't pay for it. Its not worth waiting another day.

If you feel yourself that something is wrong then something probably is. Trust your instincts!!!!! Go today and get a second opinion.

God Bless you

I read your story and I think you need to get a second opinion...I'm going to keep you in my prayers and the next answer you get will be the correct one...May God bless you with peace and positiveness!!!

I have a rare form of Cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, which is very deadly, although it grows very slowly. I was misdiagnoised by Mayo Clinic and Moffitt Cancer center here in FLorida and repeatedly misdiagnosied by doctors over the course of serveral years. By the time I sough the help and treatment from Mass General Hospital in Boston the cancer had spread from my salivary glades to my hard pallette to my left sinus and back to my brain, the two primary areas this cancer spreads to is the lungs and the breast. GET A SECOND OPINION FROM A MEDICAL CENTER OUT SIDE OF THE STATE THAT YOU LIVE IN. Doctors are natorius for covering up each others mistakes.

Ouch! This sounds like a 'watch and wait' to me. One lady said to her doc, when he suggested watch and wait...she said "ok, you can watch the lump in front of you in a bottle of formalin - as long as it's not in MY breast!'

Yes, run, do not pass go, and get another opinion from another surgeon now...this sounds suspicious and I'm praying it IS nothingm but the fact that it returned is forboding...however, age, periods and other things can play a part, too.

I went for my annual mammo & they found something to "check". The 2nd mammo showed a cyst - I was told not to worry & come back in 6 months.

I told my husband this - if you think women can nag, you haven't met him.

I went to my Primary Care MD - she told me to see a Specialist. I kind of shrugged her off - she said it again & again & again (perhaps she & my husband are related).

Turns out that yes, I had a cyst, but BEHIND the cyst was cancer.

Never let someone tell you it is nothing or to wait. Worst case would be that you take the additional tests, go to the additional visits & then find it is nothing afterall - that would be awesome.

Best of luck - let us know how it works out
