clear CT/CA 125 is 7 midway through chemo schedule

0 Recommendations

I've had 3 cycles of Gemzar/Carbo/Avastin (trial so maybe Avastin). My CT came back clear (earlier nodules on liver and "spots" on other places totally gone). My CA 125 was 7 (from 52 before treatment began) after my 2nd treatment. I go in for 1st day of 4th cycle tomorrow. Do yall think my doctor will have me finish all 6 cycles?

Yes. I had a negative CT and CA 125 of 7 after three cycles of carbo and topotecan and asked my oncologist the same question. He said the statistics were so much better with 6 cycles than with 3, and if he were me, would complete the course. Unfortunately, had a recurrence a few months after completing chemo and now wish we had gone for 8 or 9 cycles. Now, am on Gemzar and carbo, but not Avastin as yet. My response is good, but not as spectacular as yours. There's still a couple of small nodules in the liver and one in the lung. Congratulations! Hope you enjoy your remission to the fullest.

My doctor said we would do the 6 cycles and then redo the CAT scan. My CA 125 was 5 this last time. I had Gemzar/Avastin and 1/2 the carbo. I reacted to the carbo again (had 3/4 of it last time). He is doing the desentization and said we would try again on #5. It was rough today - felt sick during chemo - the whole time even with the steroids and anti nausea meds. But we do what we have to, right?

Good luck with your treatment!

Thank you ladies for this post. I have had four treatments in a clinical trial and the count is 16, so I had ask if the count comes on down do I have to keep on taking the chemo. The answer from my oncologist was yes.

You are correct, acosta. We do what we have to do.

Blessings to you all,
Rachel
