Hello-I have taken Gemzar but had to get off because my white blood cells kept dropping so low.

Am now on Avistan and Abraxane. Will take my 5th treatment Thur. Take every week for 3 weeks-then off a week. Really been hard on me for fatigue; nausea; and hitting the white and red blood cells. The Abraxane is the same family as Taxol and hits my bones hard. The GOOD news is that my tumor marker went down almost 50 points this last month. The first time it has gone down in 4 years. As long it continues down, I will plan to continue with Avistan. It has certainly given me some hope.

Blessings.

Hi Jackie-please be encouraged. Avistan, I believe, is showing itself to be effective for me> Hope that with Gemzar and the other, it will be so for you.

I have metastatic breast cancer (bones only involvement). Was diagnosed in December of 2005 after 3 mamograms missed my tumor. Finally found tumor after an MRI and did a lumpectomy in January of 2006. Next 2 years I was treated with monthly zometa treatments and arrimidex until October of 2007 when there was some progression in my bones. So, I had some radiation to bad areas in bones. Then, my oncologist and I chose to do avastin along with the chemotherapy-taxotere that began in April 2008. I had both of these every 21 days. When I began this my tumor markers were at 896. I finished with these on August 5 and my tumor markers had fallen to 37. My oncologist and I were estatic to say the least and he believes it was because of the addition of the avastin along with chemo taxotere that caused such great results.. I am continuing on with zometa and avastin on a monthly basis and so far so good.
