Wheel chair anyone?

0 Recommendations

I am frustrated today. Although two years ago, I was battling weakness so bad in my legs that I could barely walk to the bathroom , with or with out a cane. It was a bad ankle that was loss in the socket that was forcing me to contemplate looking for a wheel chair. Although the problem with my ankle can be fixed with out insurance it is not happening. With out insurance I can’t even get a proper brace that will fit secure enough. I use one, suggested by a physical therapist online, but the last few days it has not been working at all. So I am back to having to keep a cane close, and hope that I will find a new brace that will work better soon. Or I can begin to look for a wheel chair once more.

Any one else forced to have a wheel chair handy?

Hello,

Yes, I have had to get a wheelchair. I use it if I am going to go any distance at all. I just told my doctor I needed one and he gave me a perscription for it. It does help when I simply can't walk it or I get in pain or exhasted. I also have a handicapped designation for my car. Ain't a thing wrong with using what you have to in order to get around and be happy. I feel way too confined at times and am using assistive devices if it helps with the isolation feelings. If it is too difficult to get around I find myself becoming a hermit and missing out on a lot of life. So the chair and I are friends. I am going to decorate it too.

Have you tried one of those little rollator walkers? When you get tired, you can just flip the seat down for a minute.

Thank you millie, I am thinking about going that route
Can't realy afford a chair right now

Fortunate. I hope the holidays find you out enjoying the Malls, if anything, you can use a Mall wheelchair to get out of the " hermit " cycle. The longer you stay in, the harder it is to get out for just the simple stuff. Your list of things to do, get's shorter, priority changes, the little things that use to be " for fun " are left out. Go window shopping. Exercise that attitude.
My 55 plus community has it's own source of handicap devices for our community to borrow, lend, not rent. I hope you can get out, gosh almighty, ahh, the first time? sit at the beach, listen to the waves..it's Heavenly, but the Mall are decked out for xmas already! have a good weekend, get fresh air, it's therapy for your senses.
