This week on Lymphomation Live:
MAPPING THE EMOTIONAL JOURNEY (http://bit.ly/4vYgWf or www.lymphomabook.com/LymphomationLive.html)
Wednesday October 14, 8 pm (EST) – listen live or later
Guest: Dr. Joe Himle, Director, Psychosocial Program, University of Michigan

Dr. Himle was the guest speaker at the first support group I attended shortly after my diagnosis in 2002. There were people there who, like me, were newly diagnosed, and others who were lymphoma veterans. We all agreed that his coping tips were valuable for all of us, and now Joe shares them with all of you.

Anyone who has read my book might remember the passage about going to that first support group. I went for all the wrong reasons. Who needed support? Not me! Worse, imagine my surprise and embarrassment when Joe showed up. Why? Because my husband and I are friends with him and his wife! And because I still had on my “I-am-woman-hear-me-roar” mask.

But because I know and trust Joe, I took what he said to heart, and as weeks turned into months, as I faced one setback after another, as lymphoma seemed to be winning, I found that Joe’s advice was my compass in the storm. I hope it will be yours.

Feel free to pass this on – this broadcast is for people with all kinds of cancers.
