On a beautiful Saturday in San Francisco, 160 people packed into the Mission Bay Conference Center at UCSF to learn more about bladder cancer.
The presentations from urologists / urologic oncologists, a basic scientist, and a medical oncologist were incredibly informative. The survivorship panel, which included a specialist in symptom management, a wound/ostomy nurse, and two survivors (including our community's own "Shiz") had a good discussion of the impact of bladder cancer on the lives of survivors and their caregivers. And participants had such good questions that we extended the Q&A sessions into the lunch hour.
BCAN should have the pdf's of slide sets of the doctors' presentations up on www.bcan.org in the next week or so. Within the next month, we should also have webcasts posted which match the audio recording of the doctors' talks with their slides.
Thanks again to Shiz for agreeing to share his journey with bladder cancer and his experiences with BCAN's online community.
BCAN is lucky to have such wonderful supporters who are willing to give back and help others through their journeys with bladder cancer!
