trouble with mitomyacin

0 Recommendations

hello there again,

Just back from what was to be my 3rd mitomyacin treatment. They checked the urine sample and said that there was alot of protein-so much so that they could not give me the treatment.

They said it indicates that my body is fighting something and that I could get very ill if they gave it to me with this high protein count. Or that my body isn't taking the mitomyacin well. The only side effect I had were 2 nights of heavy sweats where i had to change pajamas, but I thought that was normal. They said it's not.

They have sent sample to find out more.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

Have not had it however that is one reason my uro/onco does not like to use it and usually does not. If protein is found it is is wise to discontinue it. Mitomycin C can in some people be harmful to the kidneys. Glad they stopped it until they can the problem,. I have a hunch you can't tolerate that chemo agent. Others have had really serious problems with it, really serious. I refuse to have it personally, and my doc won't use it anyway. Don't get me wrong, it is a good drug and is very effective for many people. But when there are adverse effects that needs to be taken really seriously. The new drug Valstar is something you may want to tak to your doc about. Of course there are others. Have they tried BCG prior to using MMC?

I don't have any experience with MMC, but we have members who do. I'm sure they will chime in when they see your post. Keep us posted on what happens.
