Stoma issue update

0 Recommendations

Well, l heard from my surgeon. He stated that since the stoma is a piece of the intestine, it does move and he is not worried. He referred to it as Peristalsis, discribed in part as a radially symmetrical contraction of muscles which propagates in a wave down the muscular tube. ln humans, peristalsis is found in the contraction of smooth muscles to propel contents through the digestive tract. So l chalk this up to being normal and thank you all for your responces. l got some great info from you guys. Thanks again

Thanks for the update Blaine. Just in case anyone gets confused about types of muscle, there are three types, smooth, striated (as in arm of leg muscles) and cardiac, a combination of the two. Blaine gave a great description of smooth muscle and how the intestines work (or don;t in some case). Just think of intestines as ADHD! Always have to be moving except when they just don;t want to bother, like after surgery. Thanks Blaine, Good info.

Thanks Cheyenne for the additional info. GOOD STUFF

You would think they could just use a piece of sterilized siliconized tubing. I mean what is so difficult about that?

Or better yet, if they like intestines so much then they can run it through some electrical conduit, then it can just be replaced anytime. Well, no, let me think about that one again. I'm still working n my soccer ball artificial bladder though.

Oh, you mentioned normal. You mean you're normal? Really? Or is your stoma normal? Or is it real? Oh it feels so much like a Friday. It was a long tough day! Can you tell?

Are we in the tequila again?

Trying to get back into the main stream. Or maybe just the stream.

Does your bother know you are using his Pic?

Cheyenne,
No he doesn't but l'm a firm believer that what you don't know won't hurt ya.

so when my wife yells at me I just don't have to know her and she can't hurt me right? Or did I not translate that accurately?

Only you would know the answer to that Cheyenne. l haven't had the privelage of meeting your wife.
