NJ-NY area Oncologists--Treatment Options

0 Recommendations

Hello BCAN Community,
I reach out again for information and assistance. My Dad is battling B/C and his various rounds of different chemo concoctions are not working. He went this week for an MRI of the spine as his legs tingle/shake when he stands. Its not great right now.

My Dad is seeking a 2nd opinion with an oncologist in the NJ area. We are looking at the Memorial Sloan Kettering -- Basking Ridge sattelite center. (The 1 hr drive to NYC is too much for him.)

I'm seeking your collective recommendations of medical oncolgists (in the NJ area) that some of you are currently receiving treatment from. I'm also seeking any "new" or experimental chemo treatments for B/C in the lymph system. Our next hurdle is to hear and receive the results of the MRI. I don't know if the B/C has mets beyond the lymph system.

Any and all treatment information is appreciated. This network of supportive people and caring words is so beautiful and comforting.

Thank you for all that you give to so many readers!
Best wishes,
Jennifer

Some of our members have done dose dense MVAC with success. It is at Dana Farber and MDA...not sure where else. Maybe at Sloan Kettering and thus at the satellite for it...I am not sure. Let us know what you find.

Jennifer,

My husband's oncologist researched for us options of chemo for stage 4 bladder cancer treatments and found one at Sloan Kettering that is a pill form. Their trial is full at the moment but you can keep up with that and maybe they will have an opening later on. I would get more than one opinion and time is of the essence. Maybe your father could hire a driver to take him into the city for treatments if needed. We use to pay $100.00 for a driver to take us from the airport to long island when our one of our daughter's lived there.

Good luck and we will pray for your father,

Candon

i d say if you are in north jersey sloan kettering if you are in the middle you also have the philly opitions you need to find a hospital that specilizes in cancer and the way it works and in the ny nj pa region we have some of the best, best wishes to ya ed

I've used the Sloan-Kettering facility in Basking Ridge for several scans. Easier commute than going into NYC and a nice facility. Do not have an Oncologist in New Jersey but my family doctor recommends the following oncologists (Both in Morristown I believe) Dr. Steven Papish and Dr. William DeRosa. I have not had personal contact with either of them but highly regarded by others. BILL
