Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water

Today I went to my GYN due to irregular bleeding and ended up being diagnosed with a large polyp in my uterus. The doc immediately did a biopsy (very painful) and am now waiting to hear back tomorrow on the path reports. I will be having some type of surgery, dependant upon the outcome of the pathologists report.

I want to remind everyone to really pay attention to their body. I was having pelvic discomfort and discussed this with my uro who attributed this to the BCG treatments. I kept thinking perhaps I need to get this checked out by my gyno, but decided not to worry since I had a clean cysto, and annual scans in May. Also, it is common to have some bleeding after BCG treatments (even a few weeks after your last treatment).

I am hopeful that I do not have any new cancer cells lingering around in my body.

Just wanted to share my story to help others avert my mistake in not digging further into this sooner.

So sorry to hear of additional problems for you... Take care; I am praying and thinking of you.. I am hopeful the polyp will be benign and you can go on with life...

Arlene,

Thanks for your kind words. I got so focused on the bladder cancer, that I forgot to listen to the rest of my body. I am confident that I will get good news tomorrow.

Leslie

Hi Leslie
I wish you all the best with the biopsy results. Your words of guidance for us are all so true.
Sending you a prayer from Canada.
Jack

Hi Leslie,
My goodness that must have hurt. I have 2 cysts my gyno is watching. One on the ourside of my uterus and one on my right ovary. The pain sent me to the ER for a CT scan.
I'll know in August how he is going to deal with them.
I so agree, we have to be in tune with our bodies.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Leslie, sorry to hear you have this and that the biopsy caused you pain. I am thinking good thoughts and hoping everything is ok for you...
you are so right! I have the tendency to figure that I'm seeing so many drs. and doing so much health stuff because of the BC that I can forget about all the other stuff....
thanks for posting that.. it will help me and many others
hugs michelle

Hope you will get a good path report soon. Best wishes,

JJ

One of the things I sometimes have trouble with is the paranoia following BC - so tend to put all aches and pains down to that. But you're so right - we do need to listen to our bodies and not brush off lingering problems. Thanks for the reminder.
Hope all is OK with you!
Eileen

hmmm
sounds weird...
keep me posted

Hello To All,

My doctor called me this evening to say she did not get the path results back since the biopsy was done at the end of yesterday. Another night of nail biting....

I really appreciate everyone's support and kindness; thanks to you all and I will update again tomorrow.

Leslie

Sunshine is right...

Paranoia sets in very easily!
Human nature.

My prayers are with you.
May good news prevail.

Hi Leslie,

We will all be waiting to hear that you got good news on your pathology report. Your doc must be really empathetic to call you to say he hasn't heard yet...how wonderful.

Lynda

Hang tough Leslie, you are a Texan aren;t you?

Leslie,

How wonderful to have such a thoughtful doc to let you know that results weren't ready. It's also great that she let you know the reason. I hope that by now you have gotten your results and that they are good news. Best wishes,

JJ

Hello Again,

I got great news this evening....my biospy came back in the clear. I will be having a hysterectomy towards the end of July (clean out all the junk in my trunk). Seriously, the doc felt due to my b/c and family history it would be best to go this route to prevent any future issues that could arise. Also, they are now able to perform most hysterectomies endoscopically which will mean I will be only have about 3 weeks of down time versus the old school way with 6 weeks being out of pocket.

I will being to see my parents this weekend and celebrate not only to good health, but also to living in a wonderful country.

God Bless America and to all of you.

Leslie

Jack,

Thanks for always being there for all us at inspire!

Leslie

LadyJane,

Please have your doctor monitor those pesky cysts and don't wait to long. I let this go on way too long until it really was hurting and became the size of a golf ball. YUCK!

Best to you and please keep us posted.

Leslie

Michelle,

Thanks for the good thoughts and hugs....I think all of the positive thoughts and energy from everyone made a difference (good karma).

Many hugs back to you.

Leslie

JJ,

You are right about my doctor, she is wonderful not only by calling me yesterday to update that she had no news, but also in putting a rush on the path reports since she knew how worried I was.

Thanks for checking on me again today!

Leslie

Eileen,

I have learned such a big lesson this week. Our bodies do speak to us and we need to listen very closely.
