Hello All:
I posted last week about my husband's fever. He had an RC on 8/7 and went with the neobladder. For almost 3 weeks, he had a fever of unknown origin. Finally after much pursuasion, he contacted the doctor and had a complete blood workup and urine culture. Results found nothing unusual in the blood culture and a staph infection in the urine...they opted not to an antibiotic since this strain is quite common. My husband had been on several rounds of Cipro over time. He was advised to ride it out. For the last three nights, no fever!
Its difficult to determine after and RC and major surgery what to watch for and what to ride out. We are on the side of caution.
Thank you all for your support. Please watch those fevers after RCs and diversions of any kind, especially now as we head into flu season.
Debbie
