BCG scheduled.

0 Recommendations

Got a call from my regular Uro's office today wanting to schedule my first full round of BCG treatments starting next week. I had to remind them that I had just had a TURBT on the 13th and I thought this was a little early.
Well they called Vanderbilt and after talking with the Dr. there that did the TURBT it was recomended that I start the BCG's on Nov 6th. I am just happy that after 2 years and 9 TURBTS they are finaly going to give me the full BCG freatments.
I still have not seen the pathology reports but was told that all tumors were very low grade and that there was a small area of invasion, but do to the low grade of the tumors they "Vanderbilt Cancer Center" thought that bladder removal was not neccasary at this time.
Keep your fingers crossed that this works. Thanks for all your support
Ron

P.S. My Dr. at Vanderbilt is not going to release me to go back to work until the BCG treatments are concluded.

Fingers crossed Ron, were with ya.....

prayers for you,

Ron,

Glad you are starting BCG soon. Not sure why they won't let you work during BCG. Except for that day, I went to the gym, lifted weights, did kick boxing...all the things I normally do and I did have bad side effects. Maybe it is the type of work you do. I only lifted for an hour every other day. Here's hoping the BCG does the trick!

Lynda

Great to have a plan in place. Thanks for keeping us updated drgn

Lynda,
He had posted that he experiences quite a bit of bleeding post TURBS etc and his job requires a lot of lifting, long haul driving, etc. I bet the uro wants his body to rest to fight as best it can.

Ron,
Sounds like a good plan. You have been to a center that sees a lot of bladder cancer and I believe you can trust them. Best of luck.
Hugs,
Nancy

Best of Luck Ron. Hopefully you will do fine with the BCG and not have to many flu like simptoms..You are working with a good hospital...That helps..
Arlene

Somehow I missed that post LadyJane. Thanks for telling me. I never had any bleeding and like I said, I only lift for an hour every other day...way different than having a job that requires lifting all day everyday. Wish I was as strong as you are Ron. Once again, good luck with the upcoming treatment.

Lynd

BCG was not bad for me. Just fuzzy on the day of the treatments but I ran and worked and did my normal activities. Praying for you to have a successful treatment.

Hi Ron,
I would have agreed on it being a bit to early to start bcg treatments, but that's just my opinion. I hope the bcg does the job for you, and you just have mild side effects. Sounds like you are in good hands at Vanderbilt.
Take care,
Kyle

Hi Ron
Hopefully you are now on the BCG road to cure.
We are all pulling for you and please keep us posted with any questions or concerns you have regarding your treatments. Hopefully the side effects will be kept to a minimum.
All the best,
BCG = Bladder Cancer Gone

Hi Ron,

Glad you have things scheduled and hope that BCG does the trick. Best wishes,

JJ

Thank You all for the encouragement and best wishes, if I had found BCAN two years ago when I was first diagnosed Im sure things would be a lot differant now. I had been going along thinking my Uro had everything under control and that TURBTS was about the only treatment, it wasnt until I started reading all the experiences that you all have shared here that I started looking for a second opinion.Thank You.

Now I know I am not the only one out there that needs to hear what You all can share about Bladder Cancer. So keep it up, the knowledge here is priceless.

Thanks Again Ron
