Did anyone get better control after being on months of antibiotics?

I have uncontrolled asthma that started back in 2006. I miss weeks of work during the winter(live in PA) due to sinus or chest infections causing my asthma to flare. Heat and humidity usually just triggers a need for proventil. I also found I do better in air conditioned rooms. Here is my question.....my Dr wants to try 3 months of antibiotics to see if being on medications to prevent infections help. ENT Dr. Doesn't feel I have chrinic sinusitis even though I suffer with sinus pressure, headaches and sinus infections year round. I'm on symbicort ( which really helped after failling with advair),o zyrtec, duonebs, proventil, astalin nasal spray and flonase. nssal spray.

Daughter tried prophylactic inhaled toby for a while. One immunologist thought it was a great idea, but her pulmonologist did not. For her, she believes in culturing a specimen and fighting with matching antibiotic (or other therapy). We did not notice much of a difference, and since daughter has a history of developing allergies to antibiotics, we decided to go the route of the pulmonologist. Antibiotics are never without consequences - you will have a gut imbalance and a yeast imbalance in your system. Also, it will do nothing to help allergies directly. Anyway, one more thing: we tried advair and symbicort. We got relief with Dulera, so there is something else to try if you need it.

FYI:
LABAs - has a long-acting component (Long Acting Beta Antagonists)
Salmeterol and fluticasone (Advair)
Formoterol and budesonide (Symbicort)
Formoterol and Mometasone (Dulera)

Thanks. I'm seeing the allergy Dr tomorrow. I've been on 21 days of antibiotics before but never months. I'll see what she says tomorrow.

Unrelated, we did months of nitrofurdantin (something like that) for vesicoreal reflux and UTI issues. The photosensitivity of the drug eventually peeled my daughter's skin away around next and face. Every drug has its benefits and consequences. GOOD LUCK.

There are months when I have the same symptoms....the drip from your sinuses can cause asthma problems , so do everything you can to stop the drip...I use a saline wash or my sinuses, which seems to help....

I have tried the saline rinses too. Dr put me on qvar inhaler for 3 wks and 2 wks if augmentin 875mg bid. That's a huge dose. Alleegy dr wasn t keen on the long term antibiotics but said I could try it since I'm sick all winter

Are you sure you don't have nasal polyp s? I had surgery 12 years ago and it helped .
Now I live in the northeast and this year has been bad...I am now on spiriva , pulmicort . As a side effect, the spiriva is drying up my drip..so I've stopped all the nasal meds....not a bad side effect...spiriva a drug used for copd and asthma .. At one time I was on quite a lot of antibiotics too....it didn't help until I had sinus surgery. The sinus wash I do every day, regardless if I need it or not...and I've been doing very well all summer...let's hope it continues

No polyps. Saw an ENT dr last year and he didn't think structural there was anything wrong with my sinuses or nose. He did recommend the saline rinses. My husbands on spiriva. Maybe that would work for me. This Qvar helps my peak flows.

My allergist told me there is a non allergic rhinitis that has been linked to asthma....as well as allergic rhinitis.....I have the former, since I have become non allergic recently.....the drip is what causes the asthma ( in me)...,

By the way have you ever had a cat scan of your sinuses?
