what to do about my mother in law

Hello out there. My mother in law is 89 and she's been in Alzheimer's facilities for the past 2 3/4 years. She's fallen about a dozen times this year and just last Tuesday she fell and broke her hip. She is now in the hospital and recovering. She is almost non-verbal and maybe she will smile at me and my wife who is her only child. Our most pressing dilemna is right now how do we rationalize to ourselves for her to go thru the whole rehab process to get her up again so she can use her walker. She has had sundowner's all along and now she just suffles around until she tires out and then hopefully the staff at the facility will put her in a recliner to rest. My wife knows in her mind that her mom would never want to life like this. This rehab is taking a toll on my wife and myself. Does anyone have any insight on this situation.
