activities for the patient in the nursing home

Hello Everyone,
I went to visit our family member in the nursing home tonight. She has placed in the home Monday. So this is all very new to us.She has moderate disease as of now. We brought pictures for her and she was thankful for the pictures of her family. I am wondering if anyone has ideas on what can help the patients pass the time. She has magazines to look at but it seems they are hard to follow.
