ALS and fluid in pleural space of lungs

0 Recommendations

Hi everyone! Does anyone have experience with fluid build up around the lungs in very early stages of ALS? Possibly even starting before muscular symptoms? This has happened to two of our family members, yet the docs say that this isn't common to ALS, and must be attributable to another disease process. Just trying to determine some real life experiences vs. science...

thanks in advance!

Pneumonia ALS

before i got the feeding tube..I had pneumonia that was a result of my choking, and I had aspirated something into my lungs. I do not know if this is the same thing, but I know some PALS have gone through the same thing as I.

Chuck

Thank you for sharing Chuck...it does appear in this case that there is some pneumonia as well, so your point is very interesting. We will check it out. We are also having some problems with falling, so perhaps we need to bump up doctor's awareness on these issues.
