The Foolish Gentlemen 6-19-09
I sat in the corner sipping my wine
Glad to be out in, it’s been a long time
The band was playing, the lights were dimmed
When a man came to me and asked me to dance.
Take my hand and dance with me, I will swirl you around for the whole room to see
I smiled at him, and said dear sir,
I would if I could but my legs just don’t work
Puzzled he looked over and saw my chair, I will hold you up , you’ll be fine we can dance all night.
Such a gentlemen I said, but I can’t I will fall.
He paused
Then smiled at me and walked to the dance floor all alone
They snickered and laughed and said what a fool
He held up his arms all alone, as he swayed to the music, it was magical
The music ended and he bowed his head, all around him laughed at him but he just grinned
He came back to me, as I said “I am exhausted, you swirled me too fast, your quite the dancer
Goodnight sweet girl, get some rest, you’re the wonderful dancer, simply the best!
