If you are a veteran with ALS, you need to complete a VA Form 21-526 if you want to receive Compensation from DVA.

Remember, we're dealing with te government again. Over dcumentation is suggested. If you were ever wounded or injured there is a chance to get service connected disability. Be prepared for the fight, it took me 3 years and 2 denials before I convinced a board. Service Connection opens man more monetary avenues for you. In Calif. they, VA, say I'm the only vent PALS living at home. Why? We earned that right don't let them talk you out of it.

My mom currently receives a check through the VA but it is not very much under $600. She receives it on behalf of my dad who passed away from ALS. She is not getting compensation because of the ALS though. We were told that until the goverment decided that ALS is recognized through the military mom cannot receive benefits under that yet. Is this still true? My dad passed away in April 2004 so its been awhile since we have talked to anyone.
