Last year's IPLEX demonstration

0 Recommendations

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Until our (Team IPLEX's) very noble action/demonstration last year (November 11 Veterans Day 2008) all previous attempts to procure IPLEX had failed. Despite continuous contact with the CEO’s of all three corporations, media, judiciary, attorneys, Senators, Representatives and other government officials, all efforts were sandbagged. All three of the principal parties were using the very effective tool/tactic of, blaming or passing the buck. No one was taking responsibility for this travesty.
Our coordinated letter writing campaign was successful in applying the proper pressure on the powers that be, and asking of the ALS medical community/big Pharma, etc. - why they were `re holding the cards so close to their chest. Another at the same time informing PALS that they no longer had to be led blindly down the Rilutek/traditional path of compliance.

Once our Veterans Day 2008 demonstration/letter writing campaign for access to IPLEX had been agreed upon, EVERYBODY involved... went above and beyond.

I will always believe that... Our (Team IPLEX) efforts, at least to some degree... alerted the public, our congress the media, etc.. to help force Genentech, Tercica and Insmed to come to the table and negotiate for the release of IPLEX. The fact that we fell short in our efforts to make IPLEX available to ALL ALS patients, should not diminish any efforts, by this amazing group of people. Although we (Team IPLEX) have never been garnered proper recognition, for our groundbreaking advocacy, I am proud as hell to have been part of last year's effort. For the first time, in the history of our disease...

Bottom Line:... I am absolutely proud to be associated, with the name - TEAM IPLEX - end of story

Sincerely,

i was a small voice trying desparetly to get my hands on iplex for my husband. i read of your efforts and tried to follow what you said. i applaud all of you for your efforts and still do not understand the company coming forth to give all als patients the option of trying this drug. it was the only glimmer of hope the als community had. thank you though for all the time and energy you spent.
