Depression/anxiety/winter blahs'

One never really knows what is going through another person's mind. Yesterday was my husband's 45th birthday. That is amazing for her was diagnosised with ALS 14 years ago. He has done well, although he is no longer able to do pretty much anything for himself. That is depressing enough for a man. Now he is starting to take all of his anger, frustrations out on me the wife. It is so hard seeing the man I have been married to for over 25 years turn into someone bitter at times. He has always been such a trooper, but things are gettiing harder and the winter weather is taking a toll on him. So gloomy, you can't take him out in the public much because of the horrible winter flu this year and of course the weather. But this weekend I am taking him to a carshow so he can be out amongst people.
I'm writing in this discussion, for I want people to be aware that we all have bad days. We need to try and open our eyes and realize what it must be like to live in a body that wont' do anything for you any longer. It is so sad, so heart wrenching.
I have dealt with depression, anxiety and blah's also, it's not a fun disease to live with by any means. It is a very unfair disease. It changes everything in your life. Family even tends to shy away from you for they dont' know how to communicate with ALS patients. It is heart breaking, lonely and disappointing at times. It is definately not what we had planned for our future. I only know that God knows best, we live daily to know what God has in store for us. Thank you God for that comfort.
Well I've babbled on enough, I hope reading this was helpful to someone out there that may be dealing with some of the same issues.
Have a good day. To all of those with ALS hold on strong, we pray for a acure every day.

happy birthday to your husband and may he have many many more.hugs and smiles to ya'll :) :) :)

Yet even now your husband continues to be a beacon of light to those of us just starting on this road. I am always inspired by those who show the journey to be doable, no matter how challenging. Those people are my true heros, and I thank you both. Happy birthday to your husband!
