Can't Sleep

0 Recommendations

Hi,
Recently my husband cannot sleep. He blames this on pain in the joints of his knees and ankles. He does not have the ability to move these joints on his own. We've been trying pillows, and my moving his legs in different positions. Nothing works but a pain pill. It's been suggested to us that his lack of sleep is not do to the pain in his legs, but rather another sign of als progression. And that we should see a lung dr. (an appointment is being set up) but....is it really just pain in his joints?????? And have any of you found a way to solve this? Thanks
Rosella

ALS Pain

I have a similar problem, except I have very limited movement in my arms and hands and even less in my shoulders. My orthopedist injects my shoulder joints about every 3-4 months which helps a lot. My neurologists suggested taking Melatonin as an antioxidant, but I slept all night the first night I took it. I started with 3 mg at bedtime, but 1 mg works just as well for me. Good luck and God Bless as we all travel down this road together. Ann
