Hello everyone, it has been a long time since I wrote here on this site. I am 46 and was diagnoised in the last months of 2004. I had the standard treatment of taxol and carbo treatments. 22 months later I had a re-occcurance and have not had another remission since. I tried carbo, taxol, cyplatain, (they work but I took an allergic reaction) I tried calynex and now gemeside(.gemsiteabean). So now I was told I have 3 options left. 1. try a clinical trial, 2. do nothing. 3. try an oral chemo drug which only has a 1% effective rate.
Because I took such a serious reaction to the platinum drugs and they cant be used now I was told my choices were very limited. My oncologist said I have 6-12 months to live. Has anyone else beeen in this type of situation. I cant give up!

Individualized Clinical Trial

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are fighting this horrible disease. Our prayers are with you.

A fellow Ontarian,

Gina

Are you drinking the Essiac tea. I was given 2 to 3 years to live, and 3 years was up last month and I am still in really good health, with no sign of a recurrence. I met a couple this week and the wife has had breast cancer, and later lung cancer and she has been in remission for years, and she drinks the Essiac Tea. You can read a lot about it on line. Google Essiac, or Flor Essence. I will be drinking it for the rest of my life, and the couple I met said that they will be also.

FIRST OF ALL, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. BUT THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY IS, HAVE YOU ANY RECOURSE TO COME TO US FOR A SECOND OPINION? BEING IN CANADA, YOU AR ENOT GOING TO GET THE BEST OPTIONS, UNFORTUNATELY. THERE ARE MANY MANY DRUGS. I HAVE BEEN ON NAVELBINE FOR GOING ON 11 CYCLES-I HAD A RESISTANCE TO CARBO TAXOL, EVEN THOUGH IT GAVE ME A SHORT LIVE REMISSION IN 2006, I ONLY GOT 6 MONTHS. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS, I HAVE PASSED THE 18 MONTHS THAT YOU NEED TO PASS TO GIVE IT A TRY AGAIN, BEGIN THE RESISTANCE GOES AWAY WITH MANY PATIENTS OVER TIME. SECONDLY, I HAD GEMZAR AND TOPETEKEN AND EVEN TRIED TAMOXIFIN, BEFORE THEY STARTED ME ON THE NAVELBINE. IT HAS BEEN GREAT. 10 MINUTE CHEMO, WEEKLY FOR 3 WEEKS, THEN OFF. I ALSO DO ALTERNATE HEALTH CARE, AND TAKE STANDARD PROCESS SUPPLEMENTS FOR MY BLOOD AND KIDNEY SUPPORT, ETC. MY BLOOD TESTS TODAY, AFTER COMPLETED 10 ROUNDS OF NAVELBINE, WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT 4.6, RED BLOOD CELL COUNT 12.6, PLATELETS 309,000. DOING GREAT. I PRAY YOU CAN AT LEAST ASK YOU DOC ABOUT THE NAVELBINE. IT IS EFFECTIVE IN OVARIAN CANCER, BUT YOUR DOC HAS TO BE WILLING TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX SO TO SPEAK. GOD BE WITH YOU. SHERRY (DON;T GIVE UP.....)

I don't know if it is possible, but you can always get a second opinion. I got a second opinion at Dana Farber in Boston. It cost a little over $900, but they are so on top of things and they rank number 1 in gynecological oncology. DON'T GIVE UP! You are in my thoughts and prayers. Michelle

I desperately urge you to get another opinion or tell your doctor here is a list of drugs I want to try...
My mom took what you have and has also had:
Doxil
Taxotere
Topotecan
Navelbine

There is more to do: See below

Here's a list from www.oncologychannel.com
Brand Name Generic (common) Name
Alkeran® Melphalan
Adriamycin®, Rubex® Doxorubicin
Doxil® doxorubicin HCl liposome injection
Hexalen® Altretamine; hexamethylmelamine
Hycamtin™ Topotecan hydrochloride
Ifex® Ifosfamide
VePesid® Etoposide (VP-16)
5-FU 5-fluorouracil

DONT GIVE UP
Annie

No one but God knows how long any of us have to live. People defy the odds every day.

I agree about getting a second opinion.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I agree about the Essiac tea. My Mom had taken it along with treatment and her numbers came down quickly. She had been off of treatment for three months and her numbers continue to decline.... Also, you can look into compassionate use therapy. There is a company called Pro Pharmaceuticals that has something called Davanat. It's a carbohydrate that they put with chemo to make the chemo targeted to your tumors. It has helped many people, some with Ovarian, some with Breast others with all different types of cancer. A friend of mine has a rare cancer (of the bile duct) and we are in the process of applying for it. Not only does it target the chemo, but it leaves the "good" cells pretty much alone giving fewer side effects and keeping your blood work pretty much level. If you would like some more info on it, email me and let me know. We have done all of the research on it, so I have the statistics and what not. When Mom needs it, this is the way I am going to go. It is not chemo but rather something you pair with it so it gives you plenty of options for the chemo that you can use.

Hugs,
Kathy
