ATTN: TIME FOR ACTION!!

0 Recommendations

HELLO ALL! I have just received this from my local NOCC. I thought that I would share it just in case. So, make the call...Thursday is tomorrow!

Call Thursday, July 10th! Support Ovarian Cancer Survivors on the Hill!

On Thursday, July 10, ovarian cancer survivors from across the country will be criss-crossing Capitol Hill educating Congress on the need for more ovarian cancer research funding. If you can’t be in Washington, DC, you can still participate in Capitol Hill Day by calling your elected officials and urging them to support $25 million for the Ovarian Cancer Research Program in the Department of Defense Appropriations bill.

To see if your Member of Congress signed the letter supporting this request, see here (Senate) and here (House).

THANKS, NIKKI for letting us know about this. I did call my Senator and commented that funding should be based on death rate and not numbers. The cancers with the best prognoses are getting the most money and they already have the added advantage of having surviving members who can also fundraise through the private sector. We gals are often too sick to do any of that....it's hard to do much when you are on constant chemo. We have to let our voices be heard. I have made my mission education and I tell every woman I come across about my cancer and how PAP smears do not diagnose ovarian cancer plus what symptoms to look out for and what tests do diagnose it. EVERYONE call your Congress members!

Thank you! I will at least send an Email.

Thank you Nikki! I did call and got someone who had no idea what I was talking about and then he transferred me to a full mailbox! I will keep trying though and thank you so much for posting.

Thanks Nikki. I did the call in to my 2 Senators and Rep. One of my Senators is Ted Kennedy, so his support is a no-brainer on this issue. Nonetheless, I think it is most important for us to raise the awareness of the staffers, who often make recommendations and can be the power behind the power.

None of the senators or representatives from Alabama were even on the lists.
This frustrates me!
