Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Recommendation

I have been reading about cancer and other illnesses not liking an alkaline environment of the body. There are some articles about apple cider vinegar causing that alkalinity. Has anyone else used apple cider vinegar and had good results in terms of remission and help with other health conditions? I am considering as it can't hurt. And it is inexpensive, too. Several of the local health stores carry organic apple cider vinegar.

Some years back my husband was told he had a tumor on his kidney...he had previously started drinking Braggs apple cider vinegar in water every day. The tumor had disappeared. So he has continued drinking it daily since then. It's been known to help people who have had kidney stones by keeping them from forming in the first place. Yes, I am also drinking it...I did write how I put a couple drops in my cup of coffee and it takes the acid taste out...makes it real smooth! And you can't taste the vinegar!

So I also drink it in water every day now. If there's a chance that this will work, of course, I am going to do it!

A few years ago my Pastor leant me a book about the mircales of vinegar & garlic...

I started taking 1Tbps of apple cider vinegar ( buy the real dark stuff / organic) ; and I put it in a tall glass of water....

THanks for reminding me..... I had stopped doing it.. and I have the apple cider vinegar.....

I need to make a routine thing like like my drinking

1tsp organic lemon juice in hot water each morning,. before i eat breakfast....another alkanizing drink.

did you read the post where I posted about acid & Akl
foods ??

I have read that lemon juice is good for the liver. I am going to try this vinegar which sells very inexpensively in organic form at the health food store. What can it hurt.

I got online at the MD Anderson website and they say to use caution with the apple cider vinegar. It can deplete calcium in the body and if osteoporosis is a concern or if you are on certain heart medications there is a caution. What puzzles me is how it is alkaline when it contains various acids...acetic, malic, etc. Anyone know much about this. I try and check out things from sites I trust like MD Anderson and Sloan Kettering, National Cancer Institute, and AMC. Some of these others can be quacks.

The apple cider vinegar is acidic in itself, but when it comes in contact with other acids, it neutralizes the acids and turns them alkaline. Just as a mechanic cleans off battery terminals with apple cider vinegar when they are "gunked up" with acidic residues...the vinegar neutralizes it and it cleans it right off. It's amazing.

I, myself, take coral calcium and vitamin D3 to ward off osteoporis. I'm not drinking big amounts of it. Just a spoonful in a glass of water once or twice a day :)

I use Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive oil to make homemade dressing for my salads everyday. Believe it or not, I love the taste of Apple Cider Vinegar !

I read a historical piece about apple cider vinegar , that was done by a research scientist.Fact of the matter is I'm still kicking my self in the but for getting off the apple cider vinegar wagon about 18 mo. before I got ill.
Evidently it been used for all sorts of things since before roman times . I still use it in cleaning .
Truth is I will read just about anything.
The only thing I would be careful of is interaction of meds.I believe that was in fact the reason I quit taking it.I had a great pharmacist who was in to natural healing and medicine in combo. I miss him dearly & can't seem to find anyone like him since he moved out of the area.

I am willing to read almost anything, too, but I do think it wise to check it out with medical sources as some of these people on the internet are quacks. I think the apple cider vinegar is probably ok in moderation. There were some warnings about it on the MD Anderson site and I consider them a very trustworthy source. I will try it but will do it in a very small amount and be sure to have the doctors keep a close eye on the bone thinning, etc. and eat plenty of potassium rich foods when I take it.

I used to drink either 1 or 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a tablespoon of honey in 8 oz. of hot water every night for cholesterol control. I can't use lemon juice due to reflux. I really enjoyed the vinegar/honey drink. I'll have to look into interactions with other meds to see if I can do it again.

MD Anderson says, "...there is not enough scientific evidence to form a clear conclusion about the efficacy or safety of apple cider vinegar for any health condition. There may be long-term risks associated with the acidity of apple cider vinegar..."

And there's an argument that once something is ingested, acidic or alkaline, it is quickly adjusted to the small range of pH that body can handle. This makes a lot of sense to me!

I'm on a quest to find alternative/integrative/complementary methods that have some kind of scientific backup. I realize there are things that we don't understand yet, but all the guess work drives me absolutely nuts!

annabelly, thanks for the info. I am with you, I don't know what to believe and I too believe in checking out reputable sources, although, I do think sometimes the medical institutions are slow to say there may be something to some of these things. My concern is more the safety and not wasting money on things that won't work, too.
