if zofran didnt exactly work for my nausea in the past (a year ago) is it worth trying again? my gi doctor said he would put me on that and called it in for me. I had a couple pills left from my surgery adn i tried them and had no relief...is zofran something that takes a while to help or should I get the relief right off after the tablets disintergrate?

Maybe you could try taking Emend with the Zofran. It's a pill that is made for chemo patients in mind(but so was zofran), but it is suppose to help the zofran work better for you. It's a pretty expencive med. , so your doctor might have to write or call your insurance company to get it covered or atleast get them to cover enough that you can try it for a few days to see if it's going to help.
I hope you are able to find something to help you.

I take Zofran when I need it for nausea and it should work right away if it is going to help. The "miracle drug" that I have found at the suggestion of my GI doctor and it has helped more than any of the other anti-emetics is Ativan. It is an anti-anxiety drug primarily but I tell you it works wonders for me. Not only does it take away the nausea, I am actually able to eat solid foods while taking it! Unfortunately it is not covered by my insurance company so when I do have it filled, it costs me $55 but it is well worth it! Good luck to you.
