Well, I don't know why my body has done a real turn around, at least for the past month...... I have experimented with magnesium supplements and have found the brand Magox sold in us drug stores to work for my chronic constipation. This has worked better than duccolax, milk of magnesia, amitiza, sennocot and miralax, and aloe juice and all fiber supplements. I am dumb founded on how well this is working for me. I have been taking 2 tabs (400 mg) before bed, but I also can take only 1 tab (200mg) and I am getting results. This is Magnesium oxide. I have tried other brands at the health food stores including the citrate forms. I found the citrate forms to be too strong and they made me feel tired and even a little dizzy, Especially the "calm" brand. For me this works along with no wheat or dairy. Maybe this can help someone else so I am posting this info today. I was getting close to considering surgery because my bowels were not working with the laxatives. With this regime I am hoping to try to retain them to work more on their own. This is different than milk of magnesia!!!!!!! Milk of magnesia is a drug and personally makes me very ill. I have also read reviews that some people use miralax in the am and then use magnesium tablets in the evening. To me this is a safer way to stimulate the bowel without chemical stimulants like duccolax. I also have one other point. I was using on oat cereal a almond milk or rice milk. I found that some brands have calcium carbonate added. This can be a real problem with constipation!!!!!!!!!! I now am using very small amount of pure soy milk, which is fine for me.
