absolutely! Call immediately; don't worry about calling them frequently; that's what they are there for.
Hi, not a question about it - call the dr and insist she is seen as an emergency - if not then go to the emergency dept asap.

I CALLED THE DR. AND SINCE IT HAD STOPPED THEY TOLD ME TO JUST WAIT TILL SHE CAME IN TODAY AND THEY WOULD LOOK. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HER ON IN.
THANKS ANYWAYS
TRICIA
Tricia,
The brown streaks very well could be blood. Unless there is just a ton of it, it becomes bright red, or your daughter starts to get lathargic like she's loosing blood, if she will be seeing a doctor soon it can probably wait and be mentioned then. Her stomach is probably raw from throwing-up a lot. I throw-up streaks and clumps every once in a while, and there is always some when I'm having a really bad spell. I also have it come out the g part of my tube that I use for venting. They have tested it before, so we know it's blood. In the fall it got to where I was throwing-up just blood and was having a lot more pain so they went ahead and did an endoscopy to check it out, even though we knew it was probably from throwing-up so much. I was awake during the scope so I saw the whole thing and everything was so raw and there were horrible looking places around the balloon for my tube, because it would rub each time I threw-up. They sent the pictures to my surgeon, who sees the inside of my stomach every few months when I have to have my tube changed and he said it was the worst he had seen my stomach look and he was sure it was pretty painfull. Anyways, he changed my reflux meds. and the number of times I threw-up blood decreased.
Is she on anything for reflux? If so, maybe they need to increase it or change it and see if that helps. If it was going to be a while before she sees the doctor again then maybe you could call and they could go ahead and try that to see if it helped.
I hope she gets some relief soon and her upcoming test go well.
Keep us posted,
Char
thanks char
he saw in the scope the torn tissue in the esopogus and stomach. she hadn't been taking her reflux med. because her gj tube was broken, so i'm surprised that in just a week or so it could do that, she takes nothing by mouth, i guess that bile coming up is a killer.
thanks
tricia
Tricia,
I'm so glad she has had the scope and they were able to see what the problem is. Bile really is a killer. It's like pouring paint thinner down a wall, it just eats away at everything it touches from teeth to the stomach. I can tell a huge difference if I'm even late with my med. Have they fixed her tube? Hopefully she can get back on her meds. soon. You really realize how dependent you are on the tube when it has a problem.
Hope things improve,
Char
