Great list!!!!

I love the idea of sharing some of our favorite recipes and nutritional delight... Having GP does not have to feel like we are depriving ourselves and less defeated by this disease with have in common. I add whip cream to almost every fruit desert I make myself… It is a great way to feel at peace, despite that fact I can’t eat pizza and fried chicken any more.

Chilled Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Soufflé

I envelope unflavored gelatin
Two Tbs Water

Let stand 1 minute in medium sauce pan over medium high heart.

2 Cups Fat free milk ( rice milk if lactose intolerant )
2 Cups Pure pumpkin puree
½ cup sugar
1 ½ tsp chai spice blend ( or pumpkin pie seasoning cinnamon is great for heart health and gas)

Combine and whisk in to heated gelatin mixture. Bring to simmer. And take off heat and divide into small bowls to cool. Makes six servings.

Ooh! That sounds good. More spice/fall flavor.
Also, fat-free snack pack puddings work for me. They can also be sugar free, but sugar substitutes make me sick.

I make my own Almond milk. It's actually good, low sugar, high protein--and does not taste like chocolate or vanilla.

Someone here knows how to make pistachio cake. Can we mix pistachio with the coconut flour I just ordered?

Busyteacher, what sort of whey powder do you put in soups? I've only found vanilla, chocolate, & strawberry & can't imagine putting any of them in soups without gagging. Does anyone know if there's a truly flavorless whey powder out there?

Fun list BusyTeacher! I am amazed at how many of you can drink V-8 juice or any tomato based liquids. There is NO way I could do that.

Jo-I use Natural Factors Whey Factors 100% Natural Whey Protein powder from Vitamin Cottage. It has no added sugar and no artificial sweetners. I get the vanilla flavored for my smoothies, but I think they have a "plain" version.

I have a smoothie every night for my dinner:
-scoop of 1/2 fat vanilla ice cream or low-fat (or 0 fat) yogurt
-1/2 a banana
-3/4 c frozen bluberries (I have no problems with blueberries)
-4 or 5 frozen cherries
-1 T ground flaxseeds
-2 T almond nut butter
-1/2 c 1% milk
-sometimes a scoop of protein powder if I have not had enough protein during the day

I use Gensoy natural flavor protien powder. It can be mixed into all kinds or things. It is really bland. I found that I can tolerate strawberries (fresh or frozen) and canned pears and applesauce but not other fruits (only the juices). I am still afraid to try bananas becuse of the doctor telling me specifically not to with the constipation issues.

Barley Greens powder to make up for the missing fresh, raw green vegies

Goatein is a goat milk based protein powder supposedly easier to digest than milk, soy, rice-based protein isolates. I can't remember who makes it... No added sugar.

Busyteacher: how do you make your almond milk?

I just heard that gelatin is a great way to improve consistency and get some extra protein. Do many of you use it?

Do you all have much experience with coconut milk or coconut oil?

Thanks so much for sharing!

Spiru-tein powder packets. Come in yummy flavors, Cookie's and cream, double fudge, peanut butter fudge, cherries jubilie, 'smores, a bunch of others, mix of several different types of protein sources, low fat, low fiber. PB2 powdered peanut butter, low fat, low fiber, peanut butter flavor in powdered from, easy to mix in blender, retains protein content.

I have used coconut milk, mmm, kinda has a weird flavor in my opinion but in a smoothie it might be ok. None with coconut oil.

Fage 0% greek style yogurt is really yummy, thick, creamy, like ice cream with no fat. Also packs 20 grams of protein per 1 cup serving as opposed to 9 grams on average for other yogurts. No artifical sweetners ( you will need to add honey, sugar, agave necter or something sweet to it though)

Before I had to limit dairy, I would add fat free cream cheese to smoothies, kinda made it tast like cheesecake. Add protein powder flavor of choice. Fat free riccota cheese is also good. Depending on what other ingredients you use, can taste like blintzes.

Egg Beaters substitute with milk beverage of choice with vanilla protein powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon tastes like egg nog. canned pumpkin blended in is also very good. Also good with chocolate protein powder.

And yes, this is horrible I know, but on a bad day I have been known to use No Pudge fat free brownie mix mixed with soymilk and protein powder of choice mixed together. Not much protein in brownie mix but, oh so good. Taste like one of those brownie blizzards from dairy queen ( or so i'm told anyway, never actually HAD one of those )

I believe Gotein is made by Gensoy, but don't hold me to that one.

Tofu can be added.

Don't know whether any of you could tolerate this or not, sometimes I can sometimes I can't, but, its called Delhi Saag made by Jyoti natural foods, it comes in a can its spinach and mustard greens with ginger and peppers all blended together. It's an indian dish and you are supposed to serve on rice but i eat it warm out of the can. Jyoti also makes one called Jaipur Karhi which is organic potato dumplings in spicy buttermilk, you can kinda mash the dumplings up and it turns into mush, very different and tasty. Unfortunatly it's been making me sick lately...:( You can buy these by the case from Amazon.com or at some natural food stores. You can also see nutrient info at amazon.com if you are interested. If you like indian food and can eat a bit more substance, Tasty Bite makes pouches that heat in microwave in 90 seconds, they have Kashmir Spinach (palak paneer) and Paneer Makhani. Sorry, I love indian food but generaly cannot eat it because of spice, dairy, and fat content. Both of these dishes consist of a sauce, puree, and soft cheese (paneer)
You can also find the nutrient info for these on Amazon.com

Ok, all out of suggestions for now!

Best wishes!

I use vanilla whey powder, and I can only drink V-8 smoothies early in the day, when I am upright.
You can find videos on YouTube on how to make almond milk, but I bought a Soy Quick, and it was well worth the investment.
Hmm...new discussion....kitchen gadgets we can't live without.
I can tolerate fish oil supplements, but not flaxseed oil--and seeds are a problem.
I am hoping we will all find a little variety we can tolerate on this list.
In a couple of weeks, I will print it and finish the discussion in list form, to simplify shopping and selection.
Sound good?
We can always stick it on the kitchen fridge with a magnet for moments of complete boredom.
Now enjoying almond milk with Frothe and protein. I am pretending it is Starbucks. I have a vivid imagination.
Protein powder is much better blended. It just clumps when stirred.

Have any of you tried using the almond paste left over from almond milk in your smoothies? Was it tolerable?

Will be compiling list of ingredients....

For me, it needs to be quick, flexible, and (usually) natural, but pre-packaged. I tolerate canned beets well, and pureed canned green beans (but they have a lot of salt).

I have found that protein powder mixes really well if you put it in a tupperware container with a tight, screw top or pop top lid and shake it with milk-

(sigh) I have found that any attempt to shake anything on my part leads to explosions or other assorted spills. I must be buying the wrong tupperware.

Of course, as my mother will tell you, there is a reason my parents called me "Grace" growing up. You'd think the ballet would have fixed it.

I love all of these ideas! Thank you so much!

I am having great luck with Lara bars - ground up nuts and dried fruit and maybe some spices - never more than 4-6 ingredients. I can nibble on them for snacks and get some protein and fiber, plus they taste great.

I have a big garden and I'm figuring out how to parboil squash, carrots, asparagus, and hopefully green beans (when they get ready), blend, season, and eat. I miss the fresh vegies so much and these have tasted so good and given me no problem (after sprinkling digestive enzymes on the first spoonful, though - I think they are helping me as much as anything).

Hmm....veggies still not cooperating with me. There is something called Greens to Go that you can mix in with other ingredients, but it can't possibly be as good as the real thing, because it is a powder. I think I need to consolidate this list at some point.

I was never a cooked vegetable person--always preferred raw or lightly steamed, so this is mildly difficult for me. Of all things, I miss salad and broccoli the most. And chewing....
Ah, well. That's how it goes.

I've tried and liked the Jaipur Karhi , and frozen palak paneer (microwaved) yum!

I can't do hardly any green vegetables, even well cooked - though recently I did discover that I can do frozen asparagus, well-cooked. I'm so happy! A new flavor! (I try to boost the nutrients I should get from green stuff by drinking the Doctor's For Nutrition's "Greens First" every day.)

Thanks for the pointers on flavorless protein powders, that will help.

Hi Everyone,
I have not heard of some of the things you speack of, where do you shop for all of these things?
I have been able to tolerate Carnation instant Breakfast with skim milk and a scoop of frozen yougert but i usually have about 6oz. I sometimes really enjoy it when it is all i can eat for the day. Has anyone found anthing to take the place of choc... I really miss that.I am unsure about trying a banana yet, i guess i am afraid of alot of things to eat lately..

Actually, I order a lot of them on Amazon--and I have started haunting the grocery store looking for things for my "list". A lot of the ideas come from hear.

But where do you get those? I can eat well-cooked asparagus in small amounts, but have not heard of the vegetables of which you speak.

BusyTeacher,Thanks for sharing, I will try most but I don't do well with soy for some reason. If I come up with anything different I will share. You're right we get bored with the same food. Again thanks Gina

I found this old post and wanted to share. I too am was into a very healthy lifestyle of whole foods, graines, and good fats. What a change!
Coconut milk in small amounts, 2 oz = 120 calories, has become a staple for me in soups to add calories. I blend stock, coco milk, chicken breast or ground turkey, and spinach or bok choy until WELL cooked and purree in blender. Sometimes I'm brave and add some soaked, cooked quinoa.
Smoothie ingredients...
Hemp milk, easy to digest protein with lots of omegas
1 fresh date, soaked in hot water 10 min
very ripe banana
honey
MediClear protein powder by Thorne, rice protein with ingredients for gastro healing

I tolerate quinoa as a solid, so I save that for when I am craving something that tastes like a vegetable. Who knew it was better than ice cream?
I don't do soy or dairy well. I do home-made almond milk better. I think I am going to try to return to some yogurt, spread out over the day, in my smoothies, now that the Benefiber is helping.
Benefiber is good in smoothies, too. Don't know it's there. I am adding coconut oil at the moment. Any coconut product is supposed to aid in absorption, so I agree with you there.
I have found that chewing tiny bites of meat works as well as pureeing (call it manual pureeing, if you will). How do you get the pureed meats into something palatable? Any recipes/combinations that would help?
I can do veggie smoothies if there is some tomato and fruit combination smoothies.
Any ideas on other "real food" combinations that are palatable? Very specific directions?
You can make a kind of egg drop soup with low-sodium chicken broth with an egg whisked in while boiling.
I'd be interested in your response.

I'm looing forward to the list when it is done for now! Thank you for this wonderful idea!!!

I drink a chocolate fudge EAS AdvantEDGE carb control drink. It has 17 grams of protein. It comes in other flavors too. I buy mine by the case at Sams. Tastes just like chocolate milk - my favorite drink! It fills me up so I don't want anything else either.
