MRI ...surprise!

0 Recommendations

HI Everyone,
I have been busy doctoring. I am having problems with my eyes. Migraine type systems. Halos around bright lights, light sensitivity, computers and tvs bother me. So I go to the neurologist and she's like some of your systems are migrain..ish, some aren't. She ordered an MRI for my peace of mind. She felt it would be normal. Lo and behold it is mostly normal. I have a couple of white spots on my brain. They associate them with migraines. However white spots can be a host of things. MS, strokes, tumors. (Good stuff.) Of course she was on vacation last week thru this holiday weekend so I have to wait till tomorrow (Tues)to speak with her. She reviewed my test results and her associate called me. She (the associate)told me not to worry. They feel my spots are associated with migraines. My husband is telling me that if it was a "problem" my doctor would have called me directly. ( I had called for my results and this info was passed to the doctor. I'm guessing she wanted to reassure me I was OK.)

Anybody else have digestive issues and migraines?

Had panic attack after MRI. Made my husband come with me. (Had a cage over my face and was put in a tube. Not good.) I managed to keep it together until it was over and we got to the car. Cried and cried and lost my breath.
I was so happy he was there. I needed that shoulder.

PS Pap came back normal. Yeast cleared up. YEAH!!

RosieDay,
I have migraines and motility disorders both...and I know that several others I have talked to have them both too. I have been told by doctors before that they feel there is a connection.

I have "occular" migraines- just see the auras. I blame it all on the vagus nerve! :)

Thanks for your reply. My mom has had migraines all her life. She started experiencing "heartburn" and esophageal spasms about 13 years ago when she was 53. She's now 65. Her incidences are way less frequent than mine.

Could menopause play a part?
Could diet..? She was a salad girl all her life. Now she indulges in a lot of foods I never saw her eat as a child.

My problems started in my late 20's. There is a 25 year difference between when my symptoms started and my mom's started. A lot of processed food and chemicals added to food in those 25 years. Her base diet as a kid and young adult was better than mine.

Now that she eats differently she has problems.

Honestly I think they put so much crap in the food supply it adversely affected woman. Especially the amount of estrogen in feed for animals in plastic containers etc. Our systems as a whole are a lot more delicate than men's. Even our immune systems are different. IE we would never procreate if our immune systems did not let foreign bodies in to fertilize the egg. My Gyn pointed that out to me.

I really think the gastro disorders are related to hormone issues and toxic food and meds.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I also get migraines and other headaches. I have wondered if there is a connection. Migraines have been almost non-existent lately since I'm on a medicine to prevent them. I really wonder if that is actually connected to the GP. Not sure which is worse though-the migraines and constant headaches or my GP. (I think the migraines were worse)

They always leave at the worst times, don't they? Hope all is well. Sometimes the worry is the worst part. I'm sure the spots are something that will explain the headaches in a simple way. Always go with the least harmful explanation unless told otherwise.
You are in my thoughts.

Hi RosieDay,
My son started have the headaches when he was a teenager and he had a MRI the same white spots came up and they said it was due to the migraines he is now 33 and some of his headaches has eased up because he got older and because he has changed his diet when he eats choc or when he has to much fat it hurts and they gave him imatrex to shoot in his leg when the headaches start it has helped. I think she will tell you the same thing, they called it migraine spots and said dont worry take care and you are in my prayers and you know somethimes our husbands come in pretty handy.....

I have severe GP and started getting migraines only after the GP started. However, I don't get them that often, though when I do, they are terrible.

I get migraines too. They usually coincide with my cycle. I get motion sick watching tv sometimes, or video games, or even when I read. I also have light sensitivity sometimes. I never thought it was connected to the gp, though.

I had many migraines as a child and a young adult. My mother had them all her life. I found (before the GP) that many foods seemed to bring them on. Anything with preservatives would do it as well as cheese. I learned to drink more water and breathly deeply yoga style and put in eye drops when I felt one coming on. Being dehydrated or having dry eyes made them much worse. Sometimes they brough horrible pain and nausea. Other times it just affected my vision.

I have had migraines for many years (over 20) and my most recent MRI showed the white spots also described as those seen in patients with migraines. I also have GP. I was recently told that they believe the two are connected. Good luck!

My wife's Dr. also thinks her Migraines are related to her GP. I think he called it "stomach migrane". He just Started her on beta blockers and she seems to be feeling a little better. She just spent the week in the Hospital vomiting, so It will be awhile before she can tell if this is really helping.
