Mold Related to Digestive Disorders?

0 Recommendations

We have lived her for 13-plus years and my question is this. My daughter, Tierney, who passed away March 21, 2009, was immuno-compromised due to residual leakage around one remaining hole in her heart. That said, I have often wondered if the mold/mildew present on the bathroom wall (under the wallpaper) above the shower stall might have been a contributing factor in her diagnosis of CIP. I have no source of income and have spoken to a couple attorneys regarding this issue, however, I have been quoted $2,500-$3,000 to have complete testing done as well as medical research regarding the mold in the bathroom. I do not have this kind of money, however, feel the property management/owner of this condo should be held responsible for not maintaining the rental. Any advice anyone can give is very much appreciated. God bless, Tammy

Tammy,
The house I lived in with my ex was found to have deadly black mold in it. The plumber found it while doing a pipe fix. The landlord (who was a complete idiot) with great reluctance had a professional service come in and remove the mold. They take the vents off, pull up the carpeting, remove any wallpaper and then run these very high powered heaters throughout the space. They are supposed to heat up to about 108-110 degrees to kill the mold.
If you are in the state of California and are renting or leasing this place, you have certain rights. If you feel that your health is being compromised by your living conditions, you need to tell your landlord or property owner. Check out www.dca.ca.gov for information. Also there are a few legal sites online that specialize in California renters rights.
Any and every landlord out there needs to be aware of these kinds of situations. The problem is, they think it's going to cost them too much. They are too greedy and dumb to realize that it would serve them better to spend the $2500 now instead of a lengthy and expensive court case in the future.
If not to find out if that is what contributed to your daughters decline, it would be good for you as well. You don't want to get sick either. Respiratory diseases caused by mold are big time killers.

Stay healthy my friend. Keep me posted. And if you need any help researching sites or info, please let me know!

:)

Thank you, very much. Will do. God bless
