Magic Bullet--Crisis of Faith

0 Recommendations

OK, so my Magic Bullet went berserk this morning. Now, I had allowed my husband to use it last night, so I am blaming him, if the Magic Bullet company does not make me happy.
The blender piece randomly ate two o-rings. I emailed them about this, and about the importance of this little device in the motility disorders community. Fortunately, I had the extra bottom, which I used, but I am hoping they will replace the rings and send a new blender bottom.
One of the cups also came with only two little ridges, so when the third one fell off, it failed to start the blender. This is a problem. I asked for a replacement for that, too.
And, I asked about the cost of additional travel lids.
I got an automated acknowledgment and am awaiting their response.
I have the urge to buy another back-up set, but this can't go on. Either this was a freak incident, and they stand behind their product, or I have to find an alternative and save this for travel.
Anyway, since I had such praise for this As-Seen-On-TV thing, I thought I'd let you know....we had a rough morning together. I have pumpkin and carrot juice in my hair (go well together, incidentally).

Dear Busyteacher, I always look for your postings, they're always so interesting.
Good luck with your Magic Bullet. Sorry to hear about your problem, but glad you've updated everyone.

When I first read this, I thought the Magic Bullet was some sort of a "marital aid". It took me a minute to figure out that it was a blender. You made my morning start with a good laugh.

Annie

me too, I thought it was some kind of code or something ;)

This was so hilarious. I had the same thoughts at first, especially since you let your husband use it last night!!! Then I realized, oh no, this is the same thing that's in the box on top of our refrigerator! I'd been dining on luscious smoothies all summer until one piece of our blender part disappeared. (How does THAT happen?!)

So, my thoughtful and generous sister-in-law sent this thing-in-a-box, which, when I started to open it my husband said, "Why are you opening that now?" I thought, to get the box off the kitchen counter. We were expecting company for dinner and he noted that there were "a million pieces," which is why it's still in the box, only now atop the fridge.

I'm really nervous about trying it. I had trouble with a simple blender, never remembering where the one o-ring went, etc. What in the world shall I do with this thing? Move it to the basement and buy a new blender?

Anyway, thanks for the much-needed morning laugh. I hope you have a good day.

Leslie

Ha, ha. Laughed when I read your reply. I needed that laugh too!

Busyteacher, hope your day got better.

It's not a marital aid--especially when your husband breaks it!
Really, you should try it. Even I can figure out how it works.
However, if you find a marital aid as useful as this.....

So, yesterday, I couldn't eat/drink. I attempted to drink the smoothie today--and almost died choking on the pieces of shredded rubber ring. I am NOT happy, and customer service has NOT returned my email.
Incidentally, you can find information about marital aids on another site.....or start your own discussion.

Wow, what a mess. I'm wondering if you might want to get a back up unit since it is so crucial to your eating/nutrition.

Hope it gets better soon! Regi

I have a back-up unit, thankfully. I'm just annoyed at the randomness. I was being a good girl, not overstressing it, and following directions. When I can pull that off, I expect things to work. I know. I'm getting over it.

Great, glad to hear you have a back up. I understand what you mean about treating something correctly and expecting it to work. Did you ever hear back from customer service.

Take care, Regi

Still waiting....not patiently.

I am a broken woman. Customer service is apparently unaware of the significance of the crisis......

Hi Kara,
Sorry about the Magic Bullet. It sucks when something you rely on stops working. I have made smoothies daily for 30+ years. Long before GP. And my blenders used to last 3-4 years. Usually dying after a party when it was forced to make too many pina coladas and frozen strawberry margaritas. Then my GI doc took me off bananas and I went to frozen strawberries. The first blender held up about 8 months before dying. Bought the most expensive one with the super powerful motor. The motor was still going when the metal parts broke about 1 month after purchasing. The company sent me a new metal part. It lasted another month. Started letting my strawberries thaw first. Been going through a blender about every six months. As everyone says- they don't make them like the used to. Bought an old blender at a thirft store. Sucker still working after 8 months!
My sympathies!
Nancy

They are now asking if I have the receipt. They apparently have NO clue of how much paper I keep track of. If something works after six months, the receipt is usually gone. I will look through the bag, though. There is a one-year warranty. Next time, I will keep the receipt.

Save your receipt if you wish to use the 1-year warranty. If you get one as a gift, ask for the receipt so you can get replacement parts for free.
Of course, if something works for six months, I tend to destroy the receipt, mainly to keep the paper levels down.....oh, well.
Apparently, with the paper, the customer service is excellent. According to my final conversation with customer service.

I just got one for my birthday last week. So i will ask for the receipt. Thanks for the heads up.
I see there is another new bullet out there it can do alot more things with it. It also comes with a juicer so i might get that one and have it on hand.
When all you can have can only be blended and is used several times a day i guess it won't last as long. as most people won't use it that much.

True. And I am still using it--and have a back-up. I just like being able to "blend" all at once and have variety through the day. It had not occurred to me the little bugger would have a "moment", but it's been working fine, since. Could have been that the blender bottom was broken when a certain family member made a smoothie. Not going to happen again:)

Ok so I shouldn't laugh, but the pumpkin in your hair thing creates a pretty funny mental picture! LOL!

I have a Magic Bullet too, and incidentally, their new Bullet Express. I haven't had a problem with the Magic Bullet blender and use it every day, but I got an Extended warranty on the bullet Express and I'm glad I did. The gears broke down when I didn't have the lid on right a few weeks ago, and I had to get two new parts. I just had to pay shipping.

I had read the reviews on Amazon before I bought mine, which, like you, I use daily. Most everyone loved it & a good third complained that it died within a year. I bought it anyway. It was just under $50. I figure that it helps me so much, its worth it. Even if I have to buy 2 or 3 or 4 a year, it's still less than a dollar a day and I can eat. Mine hasn't broken yet but when it does, I just plan to get a new one.

Dearest Kara, Okay, I pictured pumpkin and carrot juice in your hair, then talks of marital aids!! Oh My, I just laughed so hard, girl you always know how to make my day. I love my Magic Bullet, and I can't imagine not having a way to make my smoothie. Sorry you had a bad day, and then to taste the bits in your smoothie dang that bad bullet. I sure hope they make it right for you, you give them free advertisements. I wouldn't have even tried it without your endorsement. But I do love it, hoping I don't have same problem. Here's to a much better day and evening, sending a Big Hug & thanks, I was a little down before reading your post. You slayed me again. Gina
