Lightheaded/weak after g-tube feedings

0 Recommendations

After a long struggle with a swallowing/esophageal problem, I had a g-tube put in a week ago. Since the difficulty is related to congestion/fluids, this only addresses the nutritional issue. I can accept that and can deal with tube feeding, but keep having incidents of mental fatigue and spaciness after feedings. Sometimes, this fogginess lasts until the next meal time. I lost 30 pounds and am supposed to be consuming 2250 calories to gain some weight. But the only way I can tolerate this problem is by reducing the quantity each time. That makes it hard to reach the total for the day. And even that just keeps me in a milder haze. I am wondering if this sounds normal for someone who was living on about 1000 calories a day for 6 months and is now trying to consume a normal amount. Is my system overwhelmed? Am I weakened by the act of eating and digesting? I know it has only been a week; but I was expecting an improvement in energy level and brain power after living on fumes for so long. This has not happened. Any feedback would be appreciated. I am very frustrated.
