So, today the doctor called and finally gave me percentages from my GP test. She had called about a week and half ago and said i had GP but today she told me some new things that i don't know how to quiet interpret. She said that the bare minimum amount of eggs a person should digest in a 90 min. test was 50% and my test said in 90 minutes i only digested 12%.

I'm going to call and make an appointment to discuss weither or not this is severe considering she did not tell me details about it. I was wondering if you guys had any input, is this a severe case of GP or mild..?

It really depends I think on how the test is read by the radiologist. If I think back on my results (6% in 2 hr on one scan), it sounds like your gp could be considered moderate to severe. LIke I said though, that's just my guess based on my results. She didn't give you any guidance on things like diet? I don't understand drs sometimes. It's one thing to call and give you the results and make a diagnosis, but it's another thing to actually guide the patient to make the right choices. Check out www.gicare.com, they have an excellent sample gp diet they broke up into stages. michelle

When if found out i had GP my doc called and said i had it and then told me he was calling in some pills and to stay away from fatty foods and that was it...
Can you even understand why things are done that way. I called and asked for copies of all my tests and when i got them i did my own research that helped me more.
Good Luck and Take Care

We actually made an appointment with the doctor so we could talk face to face with him about all the tests I had had and where to go next. He hemmed and hawed a bit and finally got around to telling me the results of my test. Instead of the 60-90 minutes for my eggs and toast, I took 224 minutes. I also don't know what that means. I literally can't remember after that what he told me about GP because he started talking to me about the Reglan he wanted me on and the possible horrible side effects. I was an RN, I have NEVER heard a doctor talk like that about side effects, so I ended up scared (besides of course sitting there not feeling well anyhow). It helped to find this site and some others that had some guidance. But I to question why with something this serious, that apparently can get much much worse, why there isn't a serious discussion of the disease and the ramifications of it? Why are patients walking out of the office without some printed instructions and diet sheets? Crazy! Close to if not malpractice.

I only digested 6% after 2 hours, and that is considered severe. I figure that 25% would be half of the 50% that should have been digested - so maybe that's moderate GP. Your 12% is still half of that, so I would classify that as severe. But that's just my interpretation of the numbers.
