Feeding Pumup?

0 Recommendations

My son uses the feeding pump with Elecare formula. The Elecare is only good in the bag for up to four hours, according to the Elecare makers. Thus making the bag no good after four hours. I have been forced to wash out bags an resue them and have even purchased some without the coverage of insurance. I wanted to know how often you all change your bags? And if you get more than 30 bags a month with your pump and how

My daughter is 5 and also uses Elecare formula with a Joey pump, but only at night. Her bags come with a pocket on them to put an ice pack in, which extends the life of the formula. Her homecare nurse has told me that as long as the formula is still cold, it can last up to 8 hours with an ice pack wrapped around the bag. Our insurance also only pays for 30 bags a month, so I am able to change it only once a day. It isn't much of an issue for us, because she eats by mouth during the day and only uses the pump for supplemental feeding at night.

We are not on continued feeding because he can not tolerant it. Yes we have been told also. That insurance will only cover one bag a day. I have been buying bags off the internet.

Hello,

If you rinse the bags out with warm water and but the bags into the refrigerate you should be find. I've done this for years. I've even left food in the bags and put the bag in the refrigerate for the next night. My daughter receives night time feeds and she had had a feeding tube since she was 4 day's young and she now 10.5 year's young.

If your rinsing the bags out just try to get the water as clear as possible.

Which pump are you using?

We use the infinity Enternallite

Hello,

Infinity pump bags with the blueish/green tubing can be washed out with the little bit of work. The blueish/ green tubing comes off the clear tubing with a tug.

There is NO need to toss out a bag that you have only used for 4-5 hour's. If you read the packaging that the Infinity pump bags come in it say use for 24 hour's.

How long has your son been using a feeding tube?

Blessings,

Lesley - a/k/a NinaBean

He has used a pump all his life. Why does you little one use it. My son has a many things that maybe contributing to him not being able to eat.

Our feeding pump issues have been resolved. We have what we need. Thanks for the info
