Doctors with GP/CIP experience in Kansas City, Missouri or KCK area

Anybody got a good doc in the KCMO or KCK area who has experience treating GP or more specifically CIP? I like my doc, but he just wants to refer to me out-of-state and I can't afford that. Thanks!

Thanks so much for replying. I found Dr. Prather and have made an appt. Its December 14th.

Will check into Chandra Prakash, never heard of her.

Saw the guy at KU, he sucked actually, so i'm not sad he moved to Texas, will call the nurse and see who is there now, if anybody. Thanks so much for your help. Will keep you updated.

The reason you are being referred out of state is because the one CIP specialist, Dr. Hyman, has relocated to New Orleans and, trust me, if you can find some way to travel out of state if only to acquire a second opinion (there are only a handful of CIP specialists in the United States), I would advise it. My daughter was diagnosed with CIP in March 2008 and even though we attempted to get her out of California, due to lack of specialists, Health Net would never approve it (please note: the specialists we were referred to were within their network of providers). The few CIP specialists in the United States are the only physicians who can perform more precise motility testing to provide you with a much more accurate diagnosis, e.g., is your CIP muscle or nerve related?

Einstein,

I will be curious about your appointment with the specialist in KC. I live near Lawrence KC and my Gastro is not a specialtist in GP. She is just guessing by my symptoms that is what it is,

So please keep me updated!

Jewels56,

I am going to see a doc in Lenexa on Tuesday, he is supposed to be really good and have a lot of experience. I will let you know how it goes since it would not be far for you to travel.

Einstein,

Did you have to have a referral?

Nope, they don't require them. Finally! Everybody else will only talk to your referring dr. He is very, very, very, nice and on time too. I went into an exam exactly at my appt time and he came in immedietly after the nurse left. All his staff is very nice. Hope he works out for you! Let me know!

I checked and he is in my Blue Cross/Blue Shield network as a PPO! Yeah.

I have an appointment with my Gastro in Lawrence on September 30th, if I am not happy again with her comments then i will give Dr Youngs office a call.

Thanks Einstein!

My brother goes to school at KU and has heard Dr. McCullum (not sure if spelled right) is one of the best GP doctors in the nation. He is at KU in Kansas City. My GP doctor in Seattle confirmed this.

I have seen Dr. McCullum, he is NOT very good. He may be good if you have ONLY GP caused by diabetes and are male, other than that, he sucks. He also is no longer at KU he is someplace in Texas now.

Thank you for the suggestion though :)
