Deadly medication combinations

1 Recommendation

Last week I went into cardiac and respiratory arrest. I was sleeping and my huisband came to check on me. I was purple. He immediately gave me CPR and got me breathing enough to call 911. I was rushed to the ER and they determined that I had taken a lethal combination of drugs. I had actually followed the pnysicians advise, taking the meds IV from my pain doctor including a new prescription of Lyrica, and another doctor who was managing my weaning off subutex advised me to take extra clonazapam to offset the rest leg syndrome that is driving me nuts. He was aware I also take Xanax. So I took those meds and nearly died. The ER hospital said I was just seconds from death when I arrived in the ER. This is for everyone - please check the medications you take and the dosages and be sure to ask your doctor and/or pharmacist if there are any contradictions to taking a new medicine along with the ones you are already on. I feel so bad for putting my husband through this. He has been with me through the 5 years of this misery. I know that he doesn't sleep much because he is watching me to make sure I am breathing...even when I have the oxgen on. This condition doesn't just affect us. Our families suffer greatly along with us. I love my husband so much and absolutely hate that he has to go through this.

That is so awful and very scary too. I'm glad you got to the medical help in time to save you. Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us that we need to be more questioning about our medications for any that shouldn't be taken together.

My husband oftens is checking on me- and he has spent 3 nights thinking I was dead and just crying. It kills me that I have to put my husband through this.
I am so sorry for you scary night

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this with your husband. It is so sad to watch our husbands as they go through this with us. This has greatly changed his life also. And typical of men, he is on the internet every day for hours trying to find the "miracle" cure. He must be exhausted by now, but will not let any of his fears come through. He pleads for me not to give up. How guilty I feel when I know he is surrering as much as myself. I worry how all this will eventually affect him. My guilt is overwhelming.

Thank God you are OK. I am sure your husband would rather continue this with you than be alone. I know--I am getting phobic about taking any meds. I research them all, check with the pharmacist, and go to my family doctor, if they are coming from different specialists. Health care is so disjointed.
It is hard to watch what this disease does to your family. It has been hard for my kids and my husband--and hard to maintain friendships when you can't predict how you will feel tomorrow.
Take care.

I cry mostly beacuse my hubby goes through this. I hate that his life is cut off whie I keep falling into it worse and worse. Tomorroow they put as
BARD into me so I can get TPN with outcontamination
How long will that last
how long does this suffering have to go on.
I am sick of ruining my precious husband'life.
How can i ever be free of all this without death and I am ready
Only to give him his life back
