Colonic Dysmotility

0 Recommendations

Thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts and challanges. I am new to this site. I am 46 years old, at the age of 39 I received my first colonoscopy. The doctors first attempt proved no results because the prep did not clean me out. Two weeks later I returned to have a 2 cm flat lession removed. I was told to come back in 6 months to have recheck. I did not return and it has been 6 years, the original doctor has moved his practice to another state. I found a new doctor and had a repeat colonoscopy done last week. The doctor explained that I have a lazy colon, colonic dysmotility and the prep did not clean me out enough for him to view the camera. He stressed the urgency of correcting the situation and preforming another colonoscopy to check the area that was biopsied 6 years ago. All of this has me frieghtened. I see my doctor on Wednesday to discuss ways to get my colon working again. I lost my Aunt at 59 to colon cancer, my Mom last year to lung cancer, it was 10 years ago this month that I lost my brother to Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 43.

Hi, Kenna. I am so sorry to hear about all the losses in your family. I can only imagine how scary it must be to have this test done. All I can say is that it it's better to just do it than to wait any longer. Hopefully the results will not be as bad as you fear, and you can put your mind at ease. And if there is a problem, the prognosis may not be that bad. All of these health problems are very frightening, however, and sometimes dealing with the fear is as bad as dealing with the illness.

I'm glad you have joined this community, and I hope you will feel supported by the people on this site. I know I have, and it really does help!

Take care, and keep us posted if you can.
Kate
