Chronic ileus likely?

0 Recommendations

we are now 3 weeks post op for an adenocarcinoma of the lower colon (16cm) N of the rectum. Still hospitalized due to ileus (slugish gut) being fed by central line TPN. She's really nausiated, and refuses food. Tried Prostigmin and now on reglan, she's become really inactive since all this. Any idea how to get rid of ileus

Topotraveler here again, no need to answer, she DIED this week. More likely Gut infarction than ileus, but it could have been that too. She refused to eat or ate way too little due to excessive nausia, and gas build up, not passing stool even after one or two small meals, and feeding thru the central line is not for use indefinately..I am so sad her gut quit working and she could not be nutritioned. She is missed

OMG! While I do not know you personally, please accept my condolences for the loss of your wife. I hope they find out the exact cause of death. In the mean time, please keep close to your support system and know you are in my thoughts!

Love,

Lauren
