Miracles are still happening around me.
Thursday Oct 29, 2009, 12:15 pm, Dylan Mackenzie Hughes arrived to meet her mommy and daddy, my daughter Jen and her husband Shawn. Dylan weighed in at 7# 11 oz and 21 inches tall. They had decided to wait for the birth to find out if baby was a boy or a girl. It seems they were both so sure she was a boy, that she didn't have a name until today! It gave her time to tell them who she is. Jen had to have a c-section, so is still in hospital, but she's doing well. And Shawn has been immersed in fatherhood, changing diapers, etc. since Jen had surgery. He loves it and is probably glad to have that time with his daughter. I'm anxious to get my hands on that baby again but not up to it this weekend. I hope to take dinner over Tuesday night and a few quick and easy frozen meals. I finally got to buy something PINK for baby Dylan. And next she's getting a doll!!!
I had my second chemo yesterday (taxotere and avastin); another four and ½ hour "cruise", but I was more prepared this time with real food and my chemo quilt and decorative accents for my little corner! I felt well enough this morning to run to Target & grocery store; that just amazes me! About 2:00, was starting to feel a little queasy, took the 8 hour pill and stomach settled. I see my oncologist on Monday. I'm getting some neuropathy, tingling burning nerves under the skin. It almost feels like sunburn, clothes touching is irritating as is the warm water in the shower. I think they have meds for that. What's one more? : ) My hair is getting thinner; I think the "girls" (my co-workers) and I will be taking a road trip to wig shop. Fortunately beautiful scarves seem to be making a fashion statement out here this fall.
