Although it hasn't been my own, cancer has ruled the majority of my life. From the age of 8, I can remember running home from school to help give Mommy a bath because she couldn't do it herself after her first . I remember at radical mastectomy. At 15, Mommy wasn't able to take me to the DMV to get my learner's permit with the other kids - she was in the hospital recovering from having a cancerous lobe removed from her left lung. This past year...she figured she'd save some money and drop her cancer insurance, because surely cancer doesn't return after that long of a remission...luckily, she never got to send in those cancellation papers. In 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in the remaining boob. Off with it! She said...it'd be kind of cool to walk around without a shirt on anyways :-) No boobs, no more breast cancer, right? August 2009...my sweetheart enters the hospital with a pleural effusion....diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer...breast cells with no breasts. Go figure. Now at age 27...I'm skilled at taking care of my mom when she's sick and has her down days from the chemo. But now, reality kicks in....maybe I won't have to be Mommy's little nurse much longer....and it hurts sooo bad....
