What's that burning smell?

0 Recommendations

I had my second PET scan yesterday to determine if the abraxane/avastin combo is working. After the scan I had the most horrible smell of burning wire or plastic. Yuck! Nobody else could smell it but me. Has anyone had this problem and is there anything to so to lessen it.

Is this proof that you are an Artifical Intelligence and they have just fried your wiring? Sounds as though you just got out in time.

On another thread someone mentioned putting a damp wash cloth over their eyes for an MRI scan to avoid feeling shut in. Maybe you could do the same with the cloth over your nose. Never had a PET scan (nor an MRI for that matter) so don't know if it involves going into a tube or not.

Sorry about the silly reply they crossed my wires years ago.

I wonder if your chemo cocktail is making you more sensitive to smells? I think chemo made a permanent change to my olfactory :> At work, I smell things everyday that really bother me and are pungent - no on else in the office can. I am the only one and it makes me think I am crazy! I have heard other people who have had chemo complain of the same thing so we are not alone. lisa

Could well be medication. My mother had a heart attack about 25 years ago and some of the meds they put her on while she was in hospital really effected her sense of smell. She was given some lovely flowers but couldn't have them anywhere near her because the smell was so over powering to her.

It didn't last too long, presumably they stopped that particular medication when she was ready to go home.

Isn't it amazing how the same meds can effect people in totally different ways. Just goes to show how complex the human body is. Vicki xx

well I had a few Pet scans and they did not find any of my cancer. Only MRI's show my cancer. I had 3 MRI'S last friday and if i knew how long i was going to be on the table (almost 3 hours) I would have rescheduled one of them. Anyway i did not have a problem with a pet scan but i did with the MRI. I have had 6 MRI before these last three but i have never felt a burning sensation like i did this time. when they did the thoracic spine and lumbar spine I had two hot spot area. I almost pushed the button to get me out. When I asked the technitions about the hot spots they never heard anyone else complain about it. It was a new machine and it made different noises then the others . Anyone else experience a hot spot in chest and bellybutton area?
