Welcome New Members

Wow...when I first joined this group about a year ago, there were less than 500 members. I just glanced at the numbers and we are over 800 in size, and growing every day.

I think we need a 'welcome wagon' of sorts for the newbies...a kind of one-size-fits-all welcome to the club you never wanted to join. We're glad you are here, and feel free to share any and all problems/questions/fears. We have our up days, we have our down days, but we are always here for each other.

We equate ourselves to invisible alligator wrestlers...folks who lead a 'normal' life but have to excuse themselves on a regular basis to go in the back and take on a big 'ol smelly gator. Sometimes the gator gets a nip out of our butts, sometimes we cream it over the head with our heels. Welcome, one and all. Please don't be afraid to share your voice, there are no 'wrong' posts, just different ideas.

We mourn the bad news and celebrate (with glee!) the good news. We've lost some of our Sisters, and we've cried with each other. We've also laughed and celebrated and high fived when a Sister has been rendered 'no evidence of disease' or dancing with NED. We are a family, and you have just been adopted.

Hugs to all~

Beachbabe...you are terrific. I have only been here a few months but Inspire has to be read every morning before my day begins. The posts are so helpful regardless of the subject. I love all these ladies and am so inspired by their courage, sense of humor and dignity while facing this insidious disease. After posting about how often people have scans, I got so many great responses. I went to onco and insisted on a scan so I will be having one next Friday. Hope the news is good because I asked for it!!! Thanks Beachbabe for your post...you are the best!!!!

Hi Beachbabe - I've been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks now and finally decided it's time to get involved. I look forward to reading it everyday. It's inspiring, enriching, and even heart-wrenching at times, but it always leaves me feeling better somehow. The women are so wonderful and there is so much you can learn from their courage, experiences and compassion. I love the alligator analogy!! Thank you.

Beachbabe, again well said.
