Sewing Pillows for new surgical patients with BC

0 Recommendations

When I had my initial surgery, ACS was giving away post surgical mastectomy pillows -- they are really wonderful, I think I used mine through many of my surgeries.
If anyone would like the directions to make them for newly diagnosed and pre-surgery patients in your area, please post and I'll send simple directions, Don't need to be terrific at sewing. simple pillow -stuffed with fiberfill, and a pillowcase cover. If there is interest in this venue, I'll supply pictures and directions for those of you who would like to start a "production line" for your local "boob sisters".
I have a couple of gals who are helping me make them for local surgeons to hand out to patients when they go into surgery. They are a blessing to help pain.

Since I did not have surgery these have little meaning to me but I know of women who have been helped enormously by these pillows.

I have been working on quilts (light weight but warm) for those going thru chemo and other infusions since my cancer center is often cooler than I would like, maybe we can do some thing together?

Fantastic -- you and I are quilters -- YIPPEEEEE
I'm setting up a production line in another week or so,
I'll post the directions, once I make one and be sure the dimensions are correct.
If we can get some of our people to start this project around the country, we can help so many people.
Keep up the good work.

Thank YOU...it amazes me that the most giving, generous, selfless people I have encountered while on this journey are fellow Stage 4 cancer super heros...we truly do get what we put out into the world twofold...

I am interested in this too; when I get to feeling better, and get a new sewing machine, I want to get back into sewing.

I was thinking of making some scarves to donate to the Women's Cancer Resource Center here; these pillows would be a great thing to make for them too.

Great mom2acat --- as soon as I get out from under the stack of backlog, I'll get the directions on this forum, that way, anyone who wants to make them for their local folks, will be able to. Hoping to get that project going in the next couple of weeks.
Looking forward to having people all over the country starting to sew for our BC girls and guys.
Locating a surgeon in your area who will agree to hand out these pillows, will be the next adventure. My surgeon is wonderful, I'll keep him well supplied!
Thanks for joining the "sewing team for BC"
Hugs to you.!
