Super idea! I heard from someone today looking for a roommate, so please also indicate if you're in search of a hotel buddy :)

Chloe...do you need a roomie at the Quarter Club?

Hi Nancy, my daughter has decided to come with me and we'll be sharing a room. Sorry to have missed what may be a pajama party opportunity!

I am going but I have family nearby so am staying with them. I hope to see all of you at the conference.

Has anyone figured out our Sat. "Meet & Mingle" nite on May 16th?
Beachbabe- how much will the "ALLIGATOR PINS" cost?
Groovygirlcool-can you write the Boston Globe again & see if we can use 1 of their conference rooms and cater in a buffet dinner (maybe salads & wraps)
plus they can interview us and write about our different journeys and how we all came together!

I plan to be there - Friday night until Sunday morning. Staying at the Best Western Longwood.

Hey everyone!

I did a little looking around on the Boston train website as per someone's suggestion. I entered in Dana Farber's address and Fanueil Hall's address. I may be wrong but this is what I came up with; We can walk from DF 30 minutes to the train station and then take a ten minute train to the stop closest to FH . Then we walk another 30 minutes and arrive at Fanueil Hall.

There seems to be a lot of choices in restaurants, etc., at FH. Afterward we can take cabs back to perspective hotels, etc, continue the party!!

i am up for anything, but as someone not familar with the area, I am hesitant to make plans for others.

If Groovy's letters produce results, that would be fantastic!!!!!

My two cents....

peggyr

Peggy, I don't know what web site you were on but the trip to FH is much easier. You take the Green line train at Longwood station (near Dana Farber) and you get off at Gov't Center. FH is a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Your hotel or Dana Farber will have directions. Parking is impossible there so keep your car at DF.

One More Time

Hi gang. I just found out today that I've been approved for a grant to attend the conference, and for 2 nights at the hotel! I'll be sharing a room at the Best Western. I'm not an expert about Boston, but I did spend my first year of nursing school at Childrens' Hospital, and Fanueil Hall was one of my favorite haunts. I'm hoping to stay 4 or 5 day in the area, and see some fun stuff like the Fine Art and the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. (Imagine an Italian palazzo in the city, but in disguise on the outside)
If any of you in the Boston area would like to have a guest on your couch......

I'll be there Friday thru Sunday. I'm staying at Hilton in Dedham. Rooms are much less expensive($167) and it's about 10 miles from DF. Esay in and out.

Dear gilda,
see, I knew i wasn't the one to see about this stuff!!! Thank you so much for the info. I will check out this route and get it mapped out.
MAybe i should take advantage of my AAA membership and get some more info on travel/visiting!

Thanks again!

peggyr

Peggyr, don't feel badly, it's not your skills! I am familiar with the T so I was really surprised when I used its computer mapping and it took me by bus from Dana Farber to a different and more distant T stop and then past the government center stop for Fanueil Hall! We'll find our way - inspite of the computer!

Hi Fellow MBCN Boston-bound conference goers:

Regarding heading into Faneuil Hall for dinner/dance/yahoo about in general, after the conference:

My googling efforts have come up with -

Walk from Dana FCI up Binney St to Longwood Ave continue along to Longwood Station which is approx 0.4mile=8 min walk

Longwood Station (Green Line D train) to Govt Centre Station-

Walk 0.3 mile/5 minute to Faneuil Hall Marketplace - hey presto! (as per Gilda's directions)
.........................................

Just thought I'd suss out the walking involved for those with any walking problems due to pain with mets etc. I'm VERY fortunate that way, walking no prob(thank you God!), but I have some met sisters here with walking issues :(

"T" fares/pass for bus+rapid transport -

- single trip (Charlie card) $1.70
- Unlimited trip 1 day pass $9.00
- Unlimited trip 7 day pass $15.00

I'm getting the 7 day pass as it's very good value for me.(info at www.mbta.com)

Charlie Card & Tickets come with discount books that include many discounts such as:

-10% off at Cheers on food and giftwares, (not alcohol with meals)

-$1 off Duck Tour

-$2 off Freedom Trail Guided tour

-$2 off JFK Lib/Mus

20% Bost. Hist. Soc. Museum Shop

The unlimited travel pass (& maybe the Charlie?) include the buses and inner city harbour ferries, always another good way to sightsee I find.

I contacted Gail Prerau at Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, who very kindly sent me great info including wonderful kids info maps for the girls. (www.bostonusa.com)

They had great fun this week taking the maps for 'show and tell'; informing their class mates about the state bird, insect, drink, food, emblem, etc, etc of Boston.

There was also an interesting rendition of the 'Tea Party'; the mini version of the Kennedy's mixed fortunes and "something or rather about a revolution" .Not bad for year 1 and 3!!

GGC, you crack me up and EXHAUST me :) Love your energy and your childlike wonder...can't wait to meet you in Beantown! I don't imagine cramming 10 hot cancer babes in a taxi would be too expensive either (?) Can't wait!

You guys are getting me so excited!!! I can not wait to meet all of you and have cheers at cheers!!!

Hi! I'll be there. Arriving Thursday and staying until Monday. Staying at the Nolan House B&B on "G" street in So. Boston. I have husband in tow, but would love to meet all of you! Should we share cell phone numbers? Please keep me posted. CJ

I'll also be attending but am from the Boston area so I won't be staying over. It'll be nice to meet others.

One more month!

Thought I'd bring this forward so new members have the info to consider attending.

I'm attending too. Staying til Sunday at Best Western at Longwood Medical. Looking forward to meeting folks. I was wishing there was a game at Fenway that weekend but no luck...
