Sad news about Terrie/iousTJED, here's a copy of a post from Terrie's sister, under "Requesting input and wisdom":

United we stand; departed we fall. Yes, we all need to be united in our cause and shout it from the rafters, mountain tops, in congress, at rallys, etc.

Dark Pink Shade should be 'our' color w/the alligator added to the "Pink Ribbon" (like La Coste shirts have) .....as the days do become more challenging -- with treatments/ options / and ---- especially the quality of life one is challenged with having MBC. That's if you want to advertise that you are a MBC.

We need to be set apart. Everyone's on board with the "think pink" slogan ......(i.e., awareness & that's ok) ....UNTIL the lurking alligator moves in for the ultimate 'challenge'. And the blood runs darker..... YOU or ME.

All that being said my sister ious1TJED passed away August 8th, 2009. She posted here ...and my mom and I would like to be a part of carrying on for her so If you need support of two strong women to help organize this we are on "board". We have decided this is to be her Legacy.
If Susan Komen's sister can push paper and get the disease recognized and to a place where it is now we can carry the TORCH .....and go the distance for MBC.
The awareness is there.....but we have to press on.

Thank you all for supporting my sister. This site was a Godsend to her the past six months and she valued and respected the opinions, insight, and the clarity you all spoke of while fighting the alligator's.

Stay strong and in the fight!

I'm so sorry for your loss - a sister and a daughter - we share in your sorrow.

I'm sure Terrie will be so proud of you both in your mission of continued MBC support, thank you.

"Where one goes, we all go." Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Terrie. What a tribute to her that you have decided to keep on keeping on to altert the world of the plight of us metsters. We embrace your support and fortitude to make lemonade out of these rotten alligator chewed lemons. Please know that we will all carry Terrie's essence with us in our hearts and in our souls.

God bless~

This just truly saddens me. She was a beautiful person and my hope is that she is at peace and out of pain and that your family can find some solace in that along with the many wonderful memories you can cherish from over the years. Me deepest condolences. You will be in my heart and my prayers.

Please know that you and your family are all in my thoughts and prayers. Terrie was such a fighter right until the end and I know your love and dedication to her made her battle a little easier. It is so wonderful that you will be continuing on to fight this battle. Thank you!

Always,
Cindy

I'm so sorry.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

Heather and Terrie's sister, thank you for sharing this. It is not welcome news but it gives us a chance to express our sadness.

In some ways the "pink" has become a cliche. It offers too many the belief that for most, breast cancer is either complete "cure" or your demise. It does not address LIVING with it. I agree that we need to highlight MBC and like the idea of the darker pink and our dear Colleen's alligator "logo".

I am sorry for your loss.
May she rest in peace.

As for the color to represent our situation, I like the idea of "Hot Pink" instead of just Dark Pink. We have enough dark days in our lives and what better to represent where we are than hot, in-your-face, we are still here, pink!

We're tired of being avoided, feared, invisible or worse yet, that we look better so we must be all better and the disease we're fighting on a daily basis "isn't really all that bad" because we look pretty good.

No, we can't get hot pink roses for the funerals of our cancer sisters that the disease fianlly defeated, but it might wake others up to the fact that our cancers are not cured or even curable at this stage. Baby pink is absolutely not the right pink as we're past that stage. That's for the "beginners", to calm them down from the panic of diagnosis and give them hope. But hot, shocking pink? That's my color!

The loss of Terry, Peggy, and all the others leave us sad both for the loss of sisters in battle and for the hole it leaves in our hearts. But we that mourn are still living and trying to do our best to show the next wave of BC sisters that we can continue to stay aware, loving and supportive to all that remain and hold on in hopes that something more than the current treatments will one day help us all.

My sympathies. God Bless all of you.

My condolences to Terrie's sister and her mom. I think it is great that you want to continue being part of this site. If it is comfortable for you, please share your emotions and thoughts as you go through this time. Perhaps we can help you to.

I like your idea of a darker pink ribbon with an alligator attached to distinguish us with MBC. While al of us, whether MBC or not, live with our fear of the disease, when you have MBC some of those fears are already real.

Terrie will be missed and I am sorry for her family's loss. Her sister and mother are such strong women and will be a great honor to her memory.

I love the idea of the dark pink with Collen's alligator. I am going to make a t-shirt for all my friends to wear with me during the BC race and have "THERE IS NO CURE !!" printed on the front and back. I will make them dark pink in honor of Terrie :> lisa

Although I am new to this website, and did not know Terrie, I cried when I read your post. I too am in support of the hot pink ribbon - light pink is not angry enough!
I am lucky enough to have a loving family and am always appreciative of their support. Your sister surely must have known how very much she was loved.
God bless you!
