Doxil and Rash? Oxycontin & Rash?

0 Recommendations

Dear Friends,
It's almost 6 years with metastic breast cancer with bone mets. First Femara, Taxmiofen, then Xeloda, Navelbine & Tykerb, then Abraxane and now Doxil. Started Doxil in April and now after 5 treatments got an ugly rash on both shins, some on my thighs and my lower back. My doctor suspended treatment this week of the doxil to see if clears up.

On 7/21 we will decide if try doxil again or move to something else. It's been two weeks since my last treatment and the rash continues. Happen to anyone else? I am also on oxycontin for pain...anyone get a rash from that?

Thanks for sharing. God Bless You always, Rebecca

ps..I am going to the beach today for the week (under an umbrella) so I won't be able to respond but thanks for your help.

I have an exercise buddy who has advanced ovarian cancer is and also on Doxil, She is suffering the itchy rash as well. My sister had a similar experience several years ago with Taxol and they did Benadyrl IV and that worked. Might ask your doc about that as my friend is going to do.

Never done Doxil, so can't say.
Rashes seem to be common with many treatments.
I do take Oxy and have for over 5 yrs. I occasionally get a minor rash, but don't know what it's from. I don't think it's the oxy, but rather my body reacting to so many different things including alot of different drugs.
I hope taking a break from the Doxil helps your skin, and I KNOW that being at the beach for a week will help your soul!
Enjoy!

Hope your time at the beach was everything you imagined and more! My friend who also has the rash was told by her Onc team to try products without gylcerin, such as Aquapure or Eucerin Gel. She bought both and I will try to find out if either works. These are found in the aisle with Neosporin, etc at my Walgreens. the Aquapure is widely used during radiation so that would by my first choice.

Thanks so much for your sharing. The beach was fabulous and the rash is better... I believe it's the doxil.
