ANYBODY HAD IXEMPRA AND XELODA?

0 Recommendations

diag. 4/06 - Stage IV bc (no primary site) just LOTS of bone mets. Taxotere and Adriamycine, then Femara
(stable for 14 mon) Progression, so radiation to hip, then Navelbine (not much luck) then Taxotere and Carboplatin which seemed to be doing the trick for 6 months, now more progression to cervical & lumbar spine, hip, clavicle. So trying ixempra and xeloda. Am concerned about hand/foot syndrome as I have fairly bad neuropathy in feet and left hand. Any suggestions? I am still working (not by choice)
Thanks

I addressed- Iexempra on another post. I could only be on it once....not even complete the cycle as I literally 'tanked' w/mailaise (so?), fatigue, loss of appetite and weight loss. I called it my "load" dose and my tumor markers moved downward.....very quickly to the Iexmpra. Dr. was happy.

Though I have heard some say that they were also considering it.......so keep checking the boards we are so individually unique as to how we respond to chemos.

I finished Ixempra/Xeloda three months ago, and I still have lots of pain in both feet. My hands and feet stopped peeling, but the needle-like pain in my toes remains. One year ago, I did 6 cycles of Xeloda by itself. The skin on my hands and feet were swollem, red and tender, but eventually returned to normal. Another side effect of this combo is a COMPLETE lack of taste and smell. You can literally put a bottle of bleach under my nose and I wouldn't know it. Unfortunately, I have lost lots of weight, because nothing tastes like anything.

My daughter who passed away August 8, 2009 did take this drug at Stage IV as we were told we were on borrowed time. But only 1 cycle. (Read above). Her feet peeled and she did experience neuroapathy (in her feet) and also the tingling sensation in her fingers but she could button a blouse and manage. It never went away the last five months of her life though. AND she was super sensative to any smell so cooking was not well received, hair spray, perfume, as any smell would nauseaute her to the nth degree.
